From spring 2011 to fall 2012 Pick Up America is picking up trash across the country (on foot!) to inspire a transition toward zero-waste. In 2010, Pick Up America collected 75,000 lbs. of trash over 735 miles of road from the Atlantic ocean to Southern Ohio. Welcome to the nation's first coast-to-coast roadside litter pick-up! From March 2010 to November 2012 seven young people and countless volunteers are walking 3600 miles from Maryland to California on a mission to collect trash, build coalitions and inspire responsible consumption and zero waste.
(April 19, 2012) Thanks to a grant from Outdoor Nation, Pick Up America was able to build a Peace On Earthbench with the Moab community. On the PUA blog Jeff Chen writes, "This is the first time we've ever done something like this, and I'm really amazed at how it turned out. I'm amazed with the detailed, artistic, local, re-purposed material, community-oriented thinking that all volunteers exhibited. Just from filming the project, I learned a whole lot about building with natural materials. I feel incredibly grateful to have met and learned from the people of Moab, Utah."
