Independence Next for Scotland?

(Press TV London: 1528 PT, May 9, 2011) After their historic election win, Scotland's nationalists are preparing the ground for a referendum on independence. After stunning their critics by securing a majority in the Scottish parliament -- under an electoral system designed to prevent majorities -- the Scottish National Party says it hopes to ask Scotland's public within the next four years whether or not to seperate from the United Kingdom.

Britons to Vote on Electoral Reform

Opponents of the "first past the post" system say it ensures only the big parties dominate British politics, while supporters say it delivers clear election results and strong governments. Loading Libya: UK Red-Faced Over Arming Gaddafi

(Russia Today: 0753 PST, April 6, 2011) Britain may now be considering arming Libya's rebels, but lawmakers in London are furious that their colleagues allowed weapons to be sold to the Gaddafi regime as recently as last year. Libya is among several Arab nations who bought firepower from the UK, and which later saw uprisings.
