Tahrir Square Braces for More Protests

(Euronews: 1630 PST February 7, 2011) The wave of demonstrations in and around Tahrir Square is showing no signs of stopping. More mass demonstrations are planned on Tuesday and Friday across the Egyptian capital. Others have chosen to join a symbolic funeral procession for an Egyptian journalist killed in the violence that erupted last week. It came as President Hosni Mubarak's new cabinet held its first full meeting since the start of the uprising nearly two weeks ago. But the gathering ended with no firm progress in talks with Islamists and an opposition who demand his immediate exit.

Iran Tells Arab Nations to Unite Against West

(Euronews: 1410 PST, February 4, 2011) Iran's supreme leader is calling on the people of Egypt and Tunisia to unite around their religion and against the West, calling the recent events an Islamic liberation movement.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was speaking for the first time since the recent uprising. He told an audience of tens of thousands that Iran's own Islamic revolution of 1979, which deposed the U.S.-backed Shah, had served as an example to people living under similar dictatorships.

Copycat Protests Unfold in Yemen

(Euronews: 0815 PST, February 3, 2011) Inspired by the popular protests in Tunisia and Egypt, some 20,000 demonstrators took to the streets of Yemen in what was being called a "day of rage." They rejected the offer made by the president yesterday to step down in 2013, and outlined their demands.

One man said: "We want reform, we want political reforms and promises of honesty. We want stability and we want freedom. We want to apply Islamic law and if the regime is not ready for this it should go."
