We have much work to do!
(U.S.) Sheryl has a long list of changes she'd like to see come about from the 2008 election.

Can the U.S. affect climate change?
And can America affect world policy concerning global warming -- for better or worse?

Red, White, and Blues
(U.S.A.) I hardly know what America's image overseas really is, but everyone seems to agree that Obama would lighten everyone's mood.

About 20 percent of the world's population is Muslim, RonaldR. The number who might use the word infidel is quite small, I'm sure.

I think obyrnec got it right--- terrorism is a sloppy label, because it is a symptom of unrest rather than the cause. Just the phrase 'war on terror' bugs me. Makes no practical sense.

I think she meant it in a more general sense-- decreasing pollution is one of many areas the U.S. can potentially lead.

ok, I understand your point. Yeah, that's true that third world countries are interested in progression regardless of pollution, but I doubt anyone's reveling in the US's emissions restrictions; restrictions won't hold back the economy. Of course that's an arguable point. As I see it, the potential development of new technologies could bolster the economy rather than stymie it. But "3rd world countries are 3rd world for a reason"? That sounds like silly social darwinism to me.

to add to my previous comments, I don't think the 'associations' you mention have much weight on Obama's policies. Farrakhan has praised Obama, and was even given an award by Obama's church, but they don't otherwise have any association that I know of. It is easy to taint a candidate by searching for past acquaintances who are unappealing, but such a list is not itself a critique of the man's ability to govern.
