I wish it would be the case where not only US citizens vote to elect their president but also a system is created where people living under oppressive regimes can have a say.
There have been instances around the world where the US foreign policy deliberately supported regimes that rigged elections just because US doesn’t have a significant vested interest or the US government is made to believe such dictators are allies for the war on terror. It’s sad to see true democracy is not seen as a priority for those people.
Unfortunately, the rest of the world can not vote with the US and it’s time that voters ask those tough questions about whether their president would truly fight for those living under oppressive regimes. US foreign policy should keep the interests of those people at heart and I would ask voters to cast ballots only to the presidential candidate who represents such a change.
