Why not have citizens of the world vote for US President?

(U.S.A.) I completely agree with this respondent's perspective - if the U.S. continues to assert so much influence and power around the globe, shouldn't the citizens of every nation - or at least delegates thereof - be able to cast a vote in the U.S. election?
