Ahh, Grassroots. Always a pleasure to read your posts. As for your response, it was well appreciated and the bitter truth. The reason that I brought it up is because I have just got done reading some political theory books by John Locke, Rousseau, Thomas Paine and others and it seems to me to be a damn shame when you can have people who try to explain the state of man, and to a certain degree, are trying to tell people what to watch out for. But in reality people are gonna be people I guess.

I just believe that things could be ran alot better in the world if there was some type of honest government or IGO that really stood for something. That something being the people of the globe. I wonder to myself sometimes about someone that has died in a war riddled country that might have been the person to find the cure for cancer or someone who invents the 200 miles-per-gallon engine. I believe that there is so much global potential in people, but as usual someone has to kill others in the name of whatever might be on the plate for the day.

I also wonder to myself if the world is changing for the better though as well. What I mean is that since we have technological tools like youtube, blogs, email, and the like, the world is more connected. And when I say connected I mean the people. There are people in South America who have computers and internet access so people can talk to others from around the damn world.

I believe what is changing, even though it will take some time, is that the regular global people are voicing their thoughts and opinions to one another and are building international friendships. I wonder if the internet would be a/or the greatest tool to bring people together and demand change from our governments...

I have been trying to figure out my thought when it comes to mankind, Grassroots. I believe that I am a pessimistic realist WITH a dash of hope :)

I do not know if manind is capable of unity, if we are able to work towards the future of others. I really believe that if mankind cannot get over its petty differences, then we as the human race do not have much time left unless we change our behavior towards one another.

I mean if we could take a real and decent educational system to those in the world, could you imagine the possibilities that a child could be capable of that lives in Africa, Gaza, Brazil or where ever?

I dream a dream, that may be unattainable...ugh :(

I guess there is nothing wrong with trying to bring that dream to reality, even if it seems to be unrealistic to many

Oh God! That's a touchy question to ask,right now,with the pickle the world is in! lol!
What do I think of it?
Theoretically,it could be a future possibility when humans become less self-serving and MORE GLOBALLY orientated without WAR and DOMINATION in the matrix.
But right now.....NO!
Healthy Global Governance is not presently a REALISTIC PROBABILITY,in my humble opinion.
Jeez! Not even our US Government is a shining example of GOOD Governance for the last 3 decades lol. Or was that a pig that just flew over the rooftop?

First off,I believe in Internal and External SOVEREIGNTY,Culturally,Nationally, and ECONOMICALLY.
Secondly,there is WAY TOO much corruption,secrecy and NO ACCOUNTABILITY in GOVERNMENTS to make Global Governance healthily transparent,HIGHLY ACCOUNTABLE(as it should be)and economically RESPONSIBLE to all members.
Right now,with this economic 9/11,that has reverberated around the globe 'thanks' to bad,selfish economic/political GOVERNANCE,and WEAK/CORRUPT GOVERNMENT(who did not make individuals,or corporations,ACCOUNTABLE and TRANSPARENT in their practises and on paper)you can see that the globe is not READY for,or capable of,across the board healthy global Governance.
Too many power/land/resource hungry despots.
Even the EU is a mess,since it lifted its sovereign AND ECONOMIC borders.
Thirdly,in order to have BALANCED and TRANSPARENT global Governance,ALL GOVERNMENTS must show willingness to participate FAIRLY,MUTUALLY,and RESPECTFULLY and consider THE WHOLE JIGSAW rather than the 'favored'pieces,and most 'leaders'and their Governments are nowhere near that progressive vision(except in domination).
And in order for global governance to work HEATHILY the Governments MUST be willing to concentrate on their economics from the BOTTOM to the top,NOT vice versa,and the few with the MOST,still prefer to feed the rich more and deprive the ALREADY poor of MORE. MICRO V MACRO state of mind.
Our Goverments,in their GOVERNANCE show little interest in the Global 'HOLISTIC'.

We can't even get our International Security/Judicial/Administrative bodies(UN,EU,AU,ICC,ICJ etc)to UPHOLD ACCOUNTABILITY and Universal LAWS properly,LOL!
They sure wouldn't be short of international despots/crooks/war criminals in the dock,if they did.
I cannot see MUTUALLY RESPECTFUL "Global Governance",whilst Governments prefer to make personal profits by stomping around the globe,like neanderthals,with their armies and weapons,invading,occupying,looting resources,monopolising food supplies and natural resources and terrorizing the locals SOVEREIGNTY,CULTURE and POLITICS.

Bashir is no Sunday School teacher, but how does one judge war crimes, or crimes against humanity? By the same standard one hopes. That should put Bush, Olmert, Blair and Brown on the same docket with Mr. Bashir.

Absolutely.When it comes to the International Rule of Law there are NO exceptions.
We cannot allow war criminals to hide their crimes under the loop-hole riddled mosquito net called the "war on terror".
The "war on terror" is a legal loop-hole term which ENABLES INDEFINATE invasions/occupations war crimes to be committed,and when these are authorised by OUR TOP Governmental leaders,elected or 'selected',who have raised their right hands and SWORN an OATH OF OFFICE,(on the bible even)to "...PRESERVE,PROTECT AND DEFEND the Constitution of the United States of America"(emphasis added),then THESE very same leaders MUST be held ACCOUNTABLE for their errors,misdemeanours and CRIMES. This is the DUE PROCESS of Democracy.
Without accountability there is no DETERRENT to Governmental tyranny,whether on foreign OR domestic soil.
Investigate,Indict,Prosecute,and punish according to the Constitutional Rule of Law.
Then move on.
