I can ASSURE you that high school kids and even college kids here in Florida do not even know who Howard Zinn is, have not read his book, in fact probably lack the skills or attention span to read his book.
You ascribe very deep thought and levels of intellectualism to high school kids in general when I suspect you have not met or spoken to any high school kids outside of the northeast(where high schoolers are very educated and in tune with current events and history).
I lived in New England for over 20 years before needing to move to FL to care for family and can tell you the differences between high schoolers (and even college kids) here and there are NIGHT AND DAY.
On a separate note, I am a graduate of Boston University and was a student during the Silber years. I know Zinn's work well and wish that it were as popular as you think it is with anyone outside of the northeast and the halls of academia. Most people now in this country could give a damn about history, or war, or a global view that has peace or community at its base. They're all chasing the next dollar or important title, the next high tech gadget , the next designer drug or tennis shoe, Hollywood celebrity, and everything else that is "here today, gone tomorrow." They wouldn't have the intellectual depth or character to ponder things of everlasting value or honor...but thanks for reminding me how great America USED TO BE.
I sincerely hope LINK TV gathers a large enough national following because it is a voice that is seldom heard in this New America....it's a voice that desperately needs to be heard.
