I Strenuously agree.I can't believe that here in America the corporate media have a total blackout on such demonstrations,which challenge the policies of government.THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE,'THE LAND OF FREE SPEECH',but except for channels such as LinkTV and Free Speech TV,the ordinary citizen WOULD NEVER KNOW IT!
There is no difference between what the Burmese military Junta are doing by shutting down their media,and OUR MEDIAS 'shutting themselves down',by being biased and selective and ignoring the voice of the common people.The REAL America!
The other news medias are censoring what may not be 'appropriate'to their corporate sponsors ideologies or agendas.This is such an insult to the rights and intelligence of the population as a whole.
As long as the corporate media selectively black out the actions of those who question and object to the VERY QUESTIONABLE ACTIONS OF A VERY SUSPECT administration, the American people,generally,will continue to think that every thing is hunky-dory,and remain sedated,attention deficit and apathetic by the blank slate that is held in front of their eyes,to obscure the real life.
IMPEACHMENT of Bush,Cheney,Rumsfeld and their war-mongering cohorts is a MUST!
They have insulted all Americans who are truely patriotic and LOVE THEIR COUNTRY,by usurping the VERY Constitution,Bill of Rights and principle of real Democracy that this nation is built on!
As soon as I heard(years ago)Bush declare that,"You are either with us or you're with the terrorists",I was FURIOUS! I thought to myself,"How dare YOU,accuse those who disagree with your policies and actions,of being traitors and terrorists"
Perhaps,what Bush meant to say was,You are either with us AND THE TERRORISTS or,not...?
We have to remember that "Al Qaeda" means "the base".And that(American)base was originally payed for,armed and built by OUR CIA to provide a version of the'school of Americas',in Afghanistan,to train the muslim fighers to kill Russians!
I wonder how Bill Clinton feels about that memory,that the CIA built and equipped the'nest',for their 'buddie'Osama (the 'lesser of two evils'option) to lay his'eggs'in, and nurture until they could 'hatch' a plot to,bring down America's towers 'of BABEL'!! Bush and Cheney are "solid and stable"(Lynn Cheney)WAR CRIMINALS and the Democrats are cowards for not standing up for,and with the American people,REGARDLESS,of whether they "have enough votes",in the Senate.
Our'infallible' Government has historically installed people like Saddam,Pinochet and God knows how many African/Asian despots,in order to maintain their countries to OUR WISHES!
Jeez! America funded the Taliban,orginally,to control their country,as they wished(poppies and human rights abuses included) as long as the oil/gas pipelines ran smoothly,from coast to coast!
Sometimes I fear what is happening to America from WITHIN,by it's own LAWMAKERS,far,far more than I will ever fear scum like Osama Bin 'layin-down'. He is just a flaming haemorrhoid and a blatant insult and embarassment to Islam.
Like Howard Zinn said,"You won't find Democracy in the White House....", it IS definately WITH the people ON THE STREETS, who speak out,question and hold accountable the lawmakers and media, who should be speaking for the Nation's people not just the VIP'S OR CEO'S or Blackwater's etc!
I watch LinkTV EVERY DAY! I watch the House and Senate daily too,BECAUSE I love America and care about in whose hands it lays and what they intend to leave,as a legacy,to our grandchildren.I write to various Senators and Representatives(not just my own State)to critiize or compliment their actions and words.
They are OUR public servants! Our public voice is the voice THEY should be listening to,AND SHOWING FREELY,on the media. Censor the media and they insult the people and deny their real existence.That is UN-AMERICAN,UN-DEMOCRATIC and not compatible with an honest and honourable nation.
As long as America remains like this, we have NO RIGHT to preach to,interfere with or mentor anyone else.
Mr.Jay Rockafella(Dem.Senator)gave an outstanding speech yesterday early a.m.on the Senate floor,outlining many truths about the lack of knowledge and understanding that is present in the USA,about other cultures and nations across the planet.He,excellantly,described how,due to our geography,history,nature and culture,the people(generally)of the USA remain very naive and uninformed,and indifferent about the rest of the world,considering our powerful position,globally.
I believe that the corporate media,delibarately attempt to MAINTAIN and nurture this lack of information,as a means of controlling the 'family'.
This media does not INFORM people,they FEED people a 'special news diet'.They deny us the truth,in the same way that parents spare their children the truth! It saves explanations,underminds the intellect and assumes that the umbrella 'protection'is welcome, to make life easy! But,real life is NOT EASY!
Impeach Bush and any of his other 'inner-circle' of 'new-century-ites',becuase they are becoming about as far away fom REAL Democracy as those we are attempting to stand UP TO! GO FIGURE!
What kind of a "Democracy" IS modern-day America,if it allows and assists KILLERS like Pinochet to DESTROY the Burmese peoples DEMOCRACY, and install a cruel,primitive military regime?
Our planet is dissolving beneath our feet.Our Government,stubbornly,continue to support the burning of fossil fuels,to ENHANCE the destruction.
I can cope with a thousand Osama Bin Ladens, but what really 'terrorizes' me is:
-the sight of a skinny Polar bear struggling to find a sturdy path through the breaking ice-floes!
-the infinite growth of populations in a FINITE environment etc etc.
-20% of the population claiming 80% +, of the wealth,
-whilst their very own people struggle in poverty,joblessness,discrimination and diminishing integrity,despite the banner of 'DEMOCRACY'.
That is REAL LIFE and our real future on the ONLY habitable home we may ever know or have,in the universe.
Jeez! I had better go before my soap-box collapses!LOL!

I've been watching the wonderful documentary on Professor Zinn that Peter hosted. Thank you, thank you.

But, I'd like to ask the mods if they could get this to someone: Peter wonders out loud why people aren't out on the streats for impeachment.

And that's ironic, because San Francisco HAS been out on the streets for impeachment. We had the biggest turnout outside of DC on 9/15 and not a line of ink anywhere.
