American cannot pass the US CITIZENSHIP exam?
Out of 1000 students surveyed in Oklahoma,ONLY 3 % passed the exam of knowing the most basic history oof our land.
They should do a NATIONAL survey, because as I have travelled the world,it's very common that foreigners comment on how LITTLE Americans know of their own heritage/roots/culture or about the rest of the planet. They just CONTINUE generally,to have the opinion that the rest of the world is,or should BE,like the USA!
No wonder they get such a culture shock and reception when they step off US soil, and find out how ill-informed they are,and how the rest of the world SEES THAT,and pities it or LAUGHS at it.
Shameful and very negligent of the elders to leave a legacy of ignorance to the children to make them vulnerable.Knowledge is also a great tool and weapon, far greater than a missile and more productive.
We really need to stop ploughing money into the military to plunder foreign lands and put it instead INTO EDUCATING our nation more,so the people are on a par with other nations, worldwide.
It's embarrassing!
Unless that's the goal of the Government?
Numb and dumb the masses, because to them "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing",whereas in the rest of the world knowledge is a gift to be devoured and relished.
Every State sure do an expanded survey on this and do something about the poor results.
Tut!Tut!America.
And that's AFTER all these bits of information are indoctrinated from kindergarten, including the Pledge of Allegiance.
Obviously the attention deficit is WINNING.
