FLASHBACK:2007:JOURNALIST IN 1979 REPORTS ON SAVAK TORTURE HOUSE IN TEHRAN.
Now,we already know that Iran even under the Islamic Regime has it's internal terrible human rights abuses.
Of that there is no doubt.
But,seeing all those brand-new Shah Flags flying in Washington D.C.,outside the WHITE HOUSE EVEN,conjures up for me equally horrendous images of the past when the SHAH was installed in Iran by the UK AND US secret services.
And none of that led to DEMOCRACY better human rights or distribution of wealth,Nationally,either.Rather to one of the most murderous,brutal dictatorship times in modern Iran.
So when you see the Shah's 'glorious',flag with the golden 'imperial' lion in the middle,if you DON'T remember the fifties politics well,then read this report of journalists in Tehran at the time(1979-80)who do.
Including Robert Fisk who was there too.
The US/UK Govt.INSTALLED the Shah who allowed all this terrible torture and abuse of male and female,while he personally looted the nation of BILLIONS!
But,the main coup goal was achieved:UK/Israel/USA got control of the OIL and very,VERY cheaply.
And the SHAH was allowed to build his ATOMIC ENERGY FACILITIES,with the help of Germany and the USA etc.
HOW IRONICALLY!
Don't be fooled by 'golden lions' on flags.
The people of Iran will still suffer,just in different ways,if we interfere,undemocratically,AGAIN.

midnight: I can see where Obama is standing and it's still slightly away from the main event.And I credit him with that.
But,what I said WAS,that the "US Govt",secret services and MSM are deeply involved behind the scenes.
Obama can apparently stay out on a relative limb,but that doesn't change the fact that OUR GOVT intelligence services and MSM,behind him,are interfering with Iran's election process.
It's the CIA that I don't give credit to,or the involvement of MI5-6 in the UK.
Don't think that because Obama apparently stands back,that the CIA are not covertly involved in the shadows.
He shouldn't be going "after the Iranian demonstrators",but he should be telling the US CIA to back out of this 1953 coup re-run.
Just as Ahmadinejad should be telling the Iranian students to stay away from the US and UK embassies,which could be like a 1979 flashpoint.And also telling the Basijis and Revolutionary Guard to allow demonstrators to march peacefully.

I watch Obama because I like him,voted for him,and don't want to see him make stupid policy mistakes,or let Americans,or Democracy down,as Bush did.
I will always give him credit where it is due.
But,that won't stop me debating,or critisizing,his MISTAKES.
He is our top PUBLIC SERVANT after all.

In fact in the fifties,the US had a secret mission HQ right inside the SAVAK HQ in Tehran!
Their SAVAK agents would be flown to US military bases to receive 'training' in 'interrogation'and then secretly flown back.

So,some one/nation/group is really interfering BIG TIME here to do another 1953 coup! To destroy the Iranian democracy(and the mullahs again),wreck Iran's energy program and economy(loot it)and put in a US/Israeli 'happy' house-boy!

Mosaic, the Intelligence Report and now AJ are gifts. Thank you. I never watch cable news and in all honesty, our print press is not much better some times. For my part, I try to recommend Mosaic to my news junky friends.

I am very sceptic now about what is actually considered news. There used to be a journalistic code of conduct that seems to have been thrown by the wayside. As a serious consumer I am apalled that all I can get in a so called newspaper is crap. All there seems to be are reports about so called celebrities. Who really gives a damn about overindulgent young people!!!!

When I lived in a City I got news about that City, now I live in a smaller Community I would still like know what is happening in the Community. Whomever you consider as celebrities is of no interest unless they have made a great contribution to the Community.

Please go back to being an actual NewsPaper.
