If we are talking odd pop stars I'd take Prince over MJ any day of the week. Can't stand Thriller anymore so its all Jackson5 in a way for me. Prince had a better run. I'd take the old Pink Floyd or The Cocteau Twins over all over 'em!

Che, I think you really mean someone who is wierder than Elvis or the Beatles. New Kids on the Block don't even count in that category. Your comparison is not even musically sound. You must be very young to equate the New Kids with Elvis, The Beatles, or MJ. We are talking about music innovators, not just popular phenoms.

However flawed, Elvis, Janis Joplin, MJ, et al made a mark in the world of music, but this still doesn't require 24/7 coverage on TV. This is excessive. To whit: the Today show originated as a news program but has deteriorated to many hours of fluff in order to appease those who only want to be entertained. Gone are the days when NEWS really meant an insight into what is happening around the World.

It is a sad fact that Americans now equate NEWS with entertainment instead of enlightenment. We really can't blame the TV stations as they rely on ratings. It is a testiment to the American state of mind that we are being fed garbage like the MJ death on a 24/7 basis instead of REAL NEWS, but there are still some of us out there that want NEWS instead of fluff. Check out BBC America as they are the closest we can come to actual news.

I agree, I sick of the media dressing up the fact the he killed himself using too many RX drugs and making him out to be an idol who's better than any other performer out there. I betya his parents are pissed that their little Mikey didn't list them in his will.

Yes, there are important issues facing us worldwide that deserve far more media attention than Mr.Jackson death, however, paying hommage to someone who was bigger than the Beatles, bigger than Elvis, and yes, bigger than New Kids on the Block, is warranted in my book.

Yes, he was a freak in many ways but he also did major humanitarian work around the world and touched the lives of miillions!

One of the reports said that the only substance they found in his stomach were undigested pills. Sure, he died of CA--they always have to say that first--but they don't always have to give the real cause of death. It was too bad he altered his outward appearance. He looked better when he was his original skin tone..

I'm sorry that this MJ person died, but all of us will die at sometime. With the state of the conflicts in the World I am appalled that so much airtime has been devoted to a person that, however musically inclined, was not a motivator for anything except his own fame. This is a person that denied his own heritage by multiple surgeries & turned a great face into a charicture!!!!

Just another infuriating media sidetrack at a very important time with many other important things happening in places like Iran and Honduras. It is quite frankly insane. Sorry MJ, the 1st album I ever bought was Off The Wall, but you died a freakshow. And the impact this actually has on us is NIL.

If it's true it will be all OVER the MSM/TV soon.
