I would like to find a way to see John Pilger's new film, The War on Democracy, which doesn't seem to be distributed here in the US although Lions Gate is distributing it in the UK.
If ever an audience needed to see a film about the history of the US in Latin America, it is us and now. (And I thoroughly enjoyed West Bank Story. Thanks!)
The 'West Bank Story' is outstanding, and the continuing theme of 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'West Side Story' now taking on a Middle/Near Eastern aspect was very poignant, and shows the fantastic sense of humor that STILL is present in that area of the world, after hundreds of years ofvaried culture.
It was a great production, made me laugh so much,AND realise how much time we waste on finding differences and prejudices that divide us(assisted by Politics and power),rather than concentrating on the MANY MORE things, that we all have in common, that bind us together, like humor, music, art, culture, curiosity, love and fun!
Life is too short for hatred and lies, that are 'spun'to make us disorientated. We have much to learn, and enjoy and share with each other.
I e-mailed the gentleman who produced/directed 'West Bank Story' and congratulated him on his production and award, and requested a 'West Bank Story 2'!
I wouldn't have had the pleasure of seeing it, if I hadn't tuned into LinkTV.
Oh! and talking of humor, I also saw Dean Obeidallah('Dean of Comedy'),on James Zogby's 'Viewpoint'. What a fantastic interview, with clips from the Comedy Road Show! Again, humor is good for you! I reckon,Dean Obeidallah should be appointed as U.S./Palestinian ambassador of 'Shared Humor and Dialogue'(S.H.A.D.),because we desperately need to chill out from all this political MANIA.
Thankyou LinkTV,for showing these things, that remind us of the things we all have in common, before we are brainwashed into FORGETTING them all!
We are not all so easily 'molded'!
Thanks!
The film "West Bank Story" won this year's Oscar for best live action short film. Unfortunately, that is the only way a lot of small, foreign films get recognized by a wider audience. What other international films do you think are worthy of recognition? What short films have you seen that you'd recommend to others?
