While I am an avid opponent of genetic manipulation by non-natural means, I would secretly like to see the mammoths brought back. :)
But we tread on very dangerous ground with the tampering of millions of years of natural encoding. We will most likely invent our replacement. Science is rapidly turning into kids with bombs. Our tech outgrows our social evolution and mental/emotional balance.
