This morning I was very moved and IMPRESSED by The Youth Leaders on Energy Issues(Climate and Justice Corp.)presenting their arguments for why we must protect the future of this planet,STARTING NOW,because we are already behind schedule!
Dozens of young people from all over America,spoke,truthfully,respectfully,intellectually and sometimes though tears,in front of the Energy Independance and Global Warming Committee,with Mr Markey(Rep.Massach)presiding as Chairman.
Cheryl Lockwood,a wonderful girl from Alaska, spoke through desperate tears about the effects of global warming on her home in Alaska.
Brittany Cochrane illustrated very well the Governmental negligence of the crises that befell the people in the deep south,following 'Katrina' and the effects of industrial plants spewing their muck into OUR atmosphere.
Billy Parish,spoke adamantly,and fought back caring tears,about how we are presently destroying THEIR home for the future.
It was really worth seeing them and hearing their concerns and arguments for a clean and green future, because THEY ARE OUR FUTURE! I was very proud of them!
That's why it was SO DISAPPOINTING, to see that Mr.Markey appeared to be one of only a tiny handful of committee Reps,in front of all these wonderful young vibrant adults, WHO JUST HAPPEN TO BE THIS PLANETS FUTURE!
In a massive Congressional room,Markey looked SO LONELY up there on his own!
I was ashamed and disgusted,that MORE of the committee did not attempt to show MORE RESPECT for the young leaders of our future, BY AT LEAST TURNING UP TO THE MEETING! Chairman Markey also looked quite embarrassed by the MASS of empty chairs around him, which should have been at least HALF FILLED by our PUBLIC SERVANTS!
Bravo! To all the Youth Leaders for Climate and Justice.
SHAME! on the majority of the E.I.G.W.Committee, for not making the effort to turn up,especally when the cameras were there to record your NON-appearances!You are not paid, by us,to VACATE your polished leather seats,during VITAL MEETINGS.
You are payed to OCCUPY THEM and listen to the people!
Remember, some of these young people COULD BE our future Presidential candidates!
