I love this thought.
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children...to leave the world a better place...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

I THINK IS IDIOTIC and UNKIND what he sed.
If we thing that we are all energy,we are all one we can say that poverty and misery does not help.
If we go out snd about and we are happy we will encounter others with the same energy becouse we attracct it ,if we are miserable becouse poor and abbandond we will attract misery,I discovered that my self, but to say that an earthquake is there becouse of damnation...is silly and under educated in my view.

Did you hear what Pat Robertson said?:
On Wednesday, conservative televangelist Robertson said Haiti had made a “pact with the devil” to defeat French colonizers in a 1791 slave rebellion. “Ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after another,” he said.

Do you see what happens when people's views of the world are seriously distorted by their hell-bent views by religion?

When we get natural disasters like this the should be no religion involved we are all one and we need to help each other,I am still wating to see the contributions that the rich Muslim countries are going to make.
It will be nice to see that is not true what many think.
It s not true that the Muslim world is indifferent to others pain and soffering.

I do not claim to be a professional on this matter I raised, but to be fair - I certainly loaded the questions pretty heavily. I suggest that religion is the problem, which in all fairness, it might not be. It is pure speculation on my part. Religion could have been hijacked by more clever minds in order to pursuade large groups of people already susceptible to follow.
I believe that humans are essentially good, but we all, even Buhddists, have the propensity to do harm in one way or another to ourselves or to others.
Since humans have this inherent dichotomy or bipolar self, this is the stuff of philosophy, as Midnight has raised.
We do see a rise in the number of new self-proclaimed atheists, but I am not advocating atheism in any way. "Atheism", correct me if I'm wrong, means 'against God.' I am not against God, nor am I against the notion of it that we impute into the culturally loaded term. Rather, I am agnostic, I believe that it is impossible to prove or disprove the existence of something that is impossible to test for. And as a skeptical human being, I am not ready to take that epistemic leap to suggest that believing in a 'God' is proof-positive for its existence.
The real question behind all of this is, what is truth? "Truth" is the stuff of philosophy, epistemology, and socially constructed realities, which is different in each culture. Marrying 13 year old girls in the United States is seriously frowned upon in our culture, but it is completely legal and acceptable in some east African cultures. So this example is a variation of differences in socially constructed realities.
Now to contrast 'fact' with 'truth', the fact is many more humans in our collective human history have died in the name of God or Allah than anything else.
What good does that do us? From a Darwinian perspective, it is not such a bad thing, because intelligent people who control undereducated pons are laughing at them as they drop in numbers on the battlefields, on both sides of the war.
I wish that poor, undereducated people of the world would recognize that they are being used as chattel, just like slaves. If the masses of undereducated people in this world united against war, then we might have a chance to open critical discussion against war of any kind, across cultures, and across physical and mental boundaries.
I wish more people would join the discussion.

I love how You presented Your thought, thank You.
Religion is often ben an escape or at list something to hang on to when all is dark.
I have no problems with that,I have a problem when is used to create damage twords others or jugments based on apperances..quite shallow I must say.
I always say..we don t know what happens after our death, one day we will have the answers,I hope not to soon,I am in no hurry.
I believe that we can all do what we want as long as is not taking away from others in any way or damagine others as well.
Many religions are used as an escuse for murder or slavery and that is totally egainst any GOD wish,I am sure of it or...is no God but just a mad man that loves inflicting pain.
To have countries like Iran , Israel and others that have no separation from religion and state...who is doing what...
What happened to democracy and equality ?
NO TO SLAVERY NO TO RELIGIOS DICTAITORS ,becouse that is what the beheviour looks like to me.
If You believe that we all have a right to live ...You can t fallow blindly religions .That s way I like way more, some idiologies and filosophies.
I hope that if sombody must choose...Buddhism is not violent or http://www.religioustolerance.org/jainism.htm, that are hard only on them selfs.
Never heard any of the people practicing this way of life and faith ever killed a relative,a spouse becouse of honour, the never killed out of greed,so...whay are people becomming Muslims when still they don t practice equality and freedom of speach ? Why would You become Jews ? They still treat women not that great ether.
Why many Israeli jews used and use as an escuse the past pain to inflict new pain on to others?
Religion can be just a beatifull thing for many but is used to harm sometimes more than to heal.
I wish I had the answers...but being nice and helping others..seams like a good way to be.

I wanted to stimulate a discussion about the possibility that we humans have it all wrong. Is it possible that there is no God, and that all of warfare past and present simply revolves around this figment of our imaginations? Or is warfare only a result of socio-economic disparities masquerading as differences in faith? Is it possible that we humans are vulnerable or susceptible to believe that we are out to get one another based on differences in skin color, faith, language, etc?

If so, then what kinds of things might we be able to implement in order to avoid conflict in the future? How can we grow up and minimize bloodshed? Please offer any suggestions that you may wish here.
