After watching Amy Goodman's('Democracy Now',this a.m.)interview with the three Iraqi civilians(a Doctor,Traffic Policeman,and Bank employee)who witnessed the death of,and actually lost,loved ones in the shootings of Iraqi civilians(including a woman and her young son)by ? Blackwater mercenaries,in Baghdad on Sept 16th,Congress needs to ask A LOT of questions on behalf of the American people! They are OUR public servants,after all.
If this isn't bad enough to contemplate,one has to painfully remember that
'Blackwater USA'is a huge contributor to the Republican National Party and(as Jeremy Scahill/author,has outlined clearly in his book on Blackwater),has it's 'theocon' finger in MANY political pies,at the expense of America's reputation and integrity as a nation not to mention the reputation of our politicians.
Many of the Blackwater contracts(amongst many other private contractors) come from the State Department,and ? Pentagon.These billions of tax payers dollars,then pay the salaries of these armed mercenaries(some stoked up on steroids which effect rationality)who are responsible for indiscriminate,random shootings and KILLINGS of innocent by-standers!
I hope the Republican Party feel as nauseated as I do,at the thought of their campaign coffers being filled with the blood-stained money from White House approved private contractors/contributors?
As a person who loves America,Freedom and Democracy,and wishes to see the reputation of our nations TRADITIONAL VOLUNTEER military undamaged by these 'soldiers of fortune' actions, I am sickened and embarrassed by their crimes,and the fact that they think that by offering the victims families $10,000 and then getting them to sign a ? 'freedom from accountability document' their sins are atoned? Think again 'buddies'!
Dr Jawad,who lost his beloved and "priceless"('Democracy Now' interview 12/19/07) wife and son,in the killings was offered this 'silence' money.
That insult to him(and others)is such a disgusting affront to the American and IRAQI people.
'GAG' money("compensation")offered by a State Dept favoured 'Blackwater USA'(huge Republican campaign donor)?
If I were ANY patriotic Senator(Tri-partisan)I would be so disgusted and ashamed and demand a senate judiciary committee hearing against Blackwater et al!! and ask(humbly)that these 3 Iraqi witnesses(and any other valid witnesses)come and testify in front of hypocrits like Erik Prince,the 'Sir Galahad' to 'King'Dubya Bush and Prince Cheney!
As a peace-loving American,I am so sorry,to Dr Jawad,whose wife and son were killed and to the Bank employee who was shot in his arm and leg.
I wonder,also,who exactly the "package"was,that was being transported and 'protected'by Blackwater on that day when these killings occured?
How does that 'high-value package'feel about the actions of Blackwater?
I would like to know,because I would like to ask them,"how would you feel if your family were offered $10,000 bucks for their 'silence'on YOUR un-necessary death"?
Congress do right by the people,they are your employers!
And thankyou 'Democracy Now' for NOT being silent!
