"I have been trying to figure out why we should view Mike Huckabee as a valid future President of the multi-cultural,multi-lingual.multi-faith mighty U.S.OF A?"

Again, your choice of words is well selected.

There has been something about Mike Huckabee that has gotten under my skin from the very beginning. I am a pastor myself, and make judgements about people on a deeper basis other than the fact that someone gets under my skin.

If you take away the hot button issues of abortion and gay marriage and take a look at his some of his other positions on social issues, the guy is actually pretty agreeable. He still scares me as a president, and here is why.

This is a judgment that is based on only my opinion as a pastor.

There is a lot of work in my community and world that I would like to do. I believe that the Church is here to bring healing and restoration to our world. As with all such efforts, resource is needed. It's no secret that the national average for the tithe within the church is 3%. The Bible calls to to 10%. I've often meditated on how much great work the church would be able to do if the people responded the way they were supposed too. I don't know where you are from, but just look around a radius of your home and count how many hospitals were started by Christians. As it stands now, the church is lacking 7% of the resources we need to answer our call. now this is worth a brief brainstorm: how many government programs would not be needed if the church were able to provide them.

So, try to put yourself in the shoes of a pastor, who genuinely wants to lead his church to be what it is supposed to be in its community. and you are only able to have 1/3 of the resources in your budget that you are supposed to have. at a particular level, the church is a volunteer organization.

so now, imagine if you could leave your congregation where giving is called for, but ultimately voluntarily, and take on a different type of leadership, where giving can be mandated in a tax. well, then you could raise - or lower- taxes based on what you need. the heart to fix the world is still there, but now you have more money, more power. history shows that mandatory funds in the hands of the church don't always produce the best results. fascism is an extreme label, but...

the beauty of america is that a guy like mike huckabee can run for president. we are diverse. we are multi-cultural. we are multi-lingual. we are multi-faith. for that reason, we can't tell mike huckabee 'you can't run.' we just don't have to vote for him.

Geetar-Pluckin' Huck-abee is really gettin on my nerves!
Maybe it's because,in comparison to most Hucksters, I believe that one does doesn't HAVE to be a bible-basher to have morals and ethics.
I have met many adamant, and respectable atheists who have HIGHER morals, ethics and respect for universal human rights, than many pious,religious,bible-bashers.
AND, I am getting SO SICK of hearing Huckabee shove the anti-abortion,'pro-life' issue AT THE SAME TIME as he preaches for the Second Amendent Rights!
Yeh Right! Just what America needs AGAIN after Bush. Another 'born-again' hallelujah guy with a bible in the right hand and a gun in the left.
And I've had enough of Homophobes like 'pluckin Huck'who instantly insult and demean all Americans who differ from xx/xy marriages! How DARE HE infer that they are not entitld to their universal human rights AND CIVIL LIBERTIES.
They last thing America as a Nation needs,is a biased preacher in the Grey House!

I have been trying to figure out why we should view Mike Huckabee as a valid future President of the multi-cultural,multi-lingual.multi-faith mighty U.S.OF A?
As an Evanglelical fundamentalist he must be one who believes that anyone else who is NOT,will automatically burn in hell! He may be Christian, but he leans toward a VERY polarising position, which does not include the welfare of ALL Americans, just those who follow YOUR faith!
How the Heck 'Huck',do you intend to unite the nation? When you put homosexuals in the same box as necrophiliacs and paedophiles?
You pressurize parole boards to release a serial rapists/killer(Wayne Dumond),who tragically REPEATS his crime. What does Dumond mean to you Huck? Just a political/Republican tactic against a Clinton move? Or,something else?
Not very Christian of you OR representative of someone we should install in the White House,to lead a nation.
I can't help but think that ole' Huck wouldn't have much sympathy for brave Jamie Leigh-Jones either, the ex-Halliburton employee(testifying to The Judicial Committee this week)who was drugged and raped by Halliburton private-contractor employees.Perhaps Huck thinks she should have just stayed at home and had babies and baked apple-pies instead of being a career woman?
Trying to figure out why Huckabee would make a good Prez is like trying to figure out WHERE the mayor of New Orleans is,right now, when his people need him most,(is he hiding under his desk or is he putting a deposit down on his new 'Trump' condo, where the 4,500 public dwellings are BEING DEMOLISHED!)
So,HUCKABEE,I can only say that, personally, voting or you as the next ALL-American Prez would be like voting for the Taliban in Afghanistan and I don't expect them to be Democratically uniting THEIR people any time soon, either!
Christian? OK,no prob. BUT FUNDAMENTALIST? No thanks,honey-bunch,America is just about to wave goodbye to almost 8 years of that with someone on a similar 'crusade',and look what that's done to the American reputation world-wide!
If you really are a 'good' Christian,Huck, you should be joining,at the 'pulpit' of justice, the 54%(more than HALF the Nation!)of Americans who presently believe Bush and Cheney should be impeached, for war-crimes and misdemeanours!
And again Huck, why Wayne DUMOND? What was in it FOR YOU?
