I feel you can journey to the moon on the sound of wolves howling.The sound seems to lift ones focus to the heavens.
I have always considered wolves to be beautiful creatures.When you are out in the mountains and hear them calling,it's a magical sound.And I have never feared their presence.
So,to see Earth Focus(excellant programme)covering the topic of the barbaric aerial hunting of wolves in Alaska was upsetting but necessary.
To see those beautiful creatures tormented and chased down to exhaustion and finally wounded,injured by a spray from a shot-gun blast,whimpering and crying as they struggle on,leaving their blood in the snow,for the 'hunter' to follow and FINALLY(if the wolf is lucky)the shot that may put them out of their misery,quickly,rather than suffer more,WAS HEART-BREAKING!
If you turn it into human/inhumane terms it's like watching the massive Chinese tanks rolling over the peaceful unarmed protestors of Tiananmen Square!
The Alaska legislators must stop this practise.
These 'aerial'people are not disciplined hunters who hunt fairly and cleanly if they must AT ALL?
They are lazy,amateurs who just happen to have the bucks to own or hire a small plane to float them,comfortably,above their 'quarry'.Most of them have no idea of sportsmanship or the ethics of a fair and clean hunt.They are also probably so UNFIT physically,that they couldn't even track a wolf,on foot,in it's own habitat to give it a fair chance of winning out! Most of them,if they must,don't even know HOW to use a rifle properly!Therefore,have no interest in even a CLEAN FAST KILL!
These people are merely LAZY ILLEGAL POACHERS, and should be arrested and pilots licenses shredded!In fact,any REAL professional outfitter should refuse to take them out!
When Earth Focus showed this programme,I cried! Why? Because these aerial hunters are nothing more than barbaric torturers.Even Hyenas and wild-dogs hunt with better ethics.
The truth hurts BUT IT MUST BE SHOWN AND KNOWN,to those who are not aware(or don't care).
Public killing of wolves should always be illegal.
Officially CULLING wolves,if necessary,should be done by FWP officials who know how to perform a one-shot clean,fair kill.
I have friends in Alaska who do hunt,sparingly,fairly and cleanly.They abhor these aerial 'poachers'and see them for what they are.
Alaska legislators must act!
So! Watch,and listen to,the beautiful lunar wolf in it's natural environment,with it's family and pack,and tell me it doesn't touch your deep soul with wonder.
Then, watch an aerial poacher in action and TELL ME,that it doesn't SINK your soul and tear at your heart?
Which is THE WILD ANIMAL!
