Thankyou Link, for the extremely interesting documentary on the family/community where the females are expected to be prostitutes,EVEN by their father,mother and siblings in order to keep money coming in for survival including liquor for the men!
On that tiny piece of earth,those women were shackled by so much obligation and caught in the net of so many caste rules and regulations regarding marriage etc, I felt that no matter how hard they tried,they would never be able to leave the shadow of those trees,on that small stretch of highway.
As much as the one daughter tried to better herself,even for a lower wage,she was faced with the obstacle of family resentment(usually from the males)and the direct need for cash on the home table! It was a well made documentary and speaks loudly for the plight of women in India still.
