This new religion “Democracy”, stomps about the world, with all the delicacy of “The Spanish Inquisition”.
Here, in Canada, we have just enough “Democracy” to prevent an overt invasion by the U.S.A. .
-Technically, we have a constitutional monarchy. This means,.. periodically, .. THEY, ask our opinion,. We give it,.. the Lt. Governor (presently, Michel Jean, ..who is really hhottt),.. looks at the results & asks one lying pack of bastards or another ,..to form a government. Its great.
The American electoral system IS the best in the world, but only in specific categories;
1. Effectiveness in maintaining sufficient illusion of legitimacy to subjugate the majority of its participants. (Most Americans CONSIDER their system to be either functional or fixable)
2. Inflating participant’s sense of global relevance. ( Somehow, the ratio of Earth’s 7 billion inhabitants versus America’s democratically irrelevant 3 hundred million persons, .. is obscured by their process.)
3. General irrelevance to outcome. ( Enduring the individual American’s view that, “Only documented American citizen’s lives have value”: ..leaves the rest of us gno choice but to feel,… “The life of a person inside U.S.A. borders,.. has gno value.” They vote for their own benefit, yet demand no change in foreign policy. American foreign policy,. has & will always be: “FUCK EVERYBODY BUT US!”
Changes in foreign policy,… seem to coincide with changes in leadership,.. but the truth is that, “Leadership changes to coincide with the need to change visible behavior.
Living next door to those damned Yankees, (& I can only imagine how the Mexicans feel), is like,.. how shall I put it so as to not be too, … condescending?
--The best analogy,.. is: One lives happily in their family home. The neighbor is the Police chief. The chief of police,.. thinks that it is both normal & good,.. to have his house’s sewer system, .. backed-up to the level of having 4 feet (a meter & some),.. of raw sewage in his basement recreation room,.. at all times.
Being one who is good at ‘minding our own business’ ..we are loath to point out,.. that it is seeping into our basement,.. causing structural damage,.. & well just staining the carpet.
I give the U.S.A. failing marks,.. on democratically governing their country as a whole. The only obvious solution,.. is for them to break-up into 4 or 5 dozen provinces or separate countries. They could thus ‘war’ amongst themselves,..
& leave the rest of us, .. the fuck, .. alone (ahem)
Far from the best. Getting rid of the two-party system and having proportional representation instead of a plurality might help somewhat; then third parties, which aren't total slaves to corporate interests, could actually stand a chance.
Of course, it won't matter how many parties there are if the people are still too ignorant to know what's going on, which is why I think that everyone should have to pass some kind of basic education &/or current events test to even vote; if you don't know what's going on in your country and around the world, then just sit the elections out, for the sake of the people in your country, and perhaps others around the world, that will face the consequences of your uninformed decision.
Having people who don't know what's going on determine the course our country goes in is like asking someone who's never taken calculus to help you study for a calculus test; it's incredibly stupid in other words, and has far more serious implications than just failing a test.
WHAT THE? silly comment system cut off two thirds of my comment!
Basically the rest was... the only "VOTE" that will matter is coming together in a serious and strong movement and abolishing the Federal Reserve "system". That would be a start, but really just a dent in the corporate monster at this point. I seriously doubt that will happen before the hammer of fascism comes down hard on us all. Will it take a police state before America wakes up? Hell, even then would they even know what was really happening? This America of today is a nightmare. The worst part is that it is only the prologue. Best voter system in the world? What a joke. The only votes that matter are cast in the board rooms of international corporations. America is dead. Long live America!
Electronic voting? The fact that electronic voting is being used all over the country proves the fact that Americans are idiots. The very second that I heard of electronic voting I immediately thought "Hell no!" Anyone with a brain knows that there is absolutely NO way to secure any electronic system.
Do away with voting. The majority is inevitably wrong about virtually everything and what is worse beg to be told a lie big enough so they can share a common belief...that it is in fact the truth. Do away with ALL laws...they are nothing but the codeification of society's already unwritten prejudices and are designed, and maybe always have been, as just another tool to protect the powerful...so that they can rape the powerless with impunity. Destroy and do away with utterly and burn completely from our very collective consciousness the concept of money...because it IS in fact the root of all evil by making whores of us all in allowing us to do the most horrific things to have it.
And replace all those God dam fucking things with a society based on love for one another.
PS.
In answer to the question, "Is the Amerikkkan voter system the best in the WORLD?" I wasn't aware of the fact that Amerikkka even has a voter system anymore since she now has a head of state who was never elected. And I suppose that if I come into your house to steal everything I want and rape your wife and children in front of you...you will tell me that all those material items in fact do belong to me and I have a right to do anything I want to your family if you know I can kill all of them before you can stop me. But then would that make me the head of your house...because I can in fact do those things?
And when a government is filled with criminals who sell their favors to the highest bidder...and who KNOWINGLY and WILLINGLY make unjust laws and expect everyone to adhere to and obey them when in fact they do not. At what point do you decide it is in fact better to destroy that gang than allow their system to exist under some pretext that it has any more legitimacy to operate...than any other criminal empire?
As an over fifty Black man in America, I can't even feel comfortable about answering the question that's been posed because every aspect of life for me and my people take on a different perspective than the main stream. I view my presence within the American socio-politico/economic system as a marginalized gift serving as a remedy for the guilty consciences that exist for all the wrong we've suffered and continue to suffer. When Racists like Rush Limbaugh, Anne Coulter, Sean Hannity and the like are given opportunity to incite hate towards "me" because of the color of my skin, while any comment by Louis Farrakahn invokes a demand for a verbal outrage to determine a Black's validity as a viable candidate for public office, or deliberately deceitful claims by other candidates as to the religious affiliation of the Black candidate to Muslim Extremists in an effort to strike fear in the hearts of the voting public to insure the maintenance of the status quo, and finally to marginalize any effort to bring this oligarchy into the twenty-first century and give this country a chance for survival with all the people being treated equally as human beings> If these are the characteristics of a partially good voter system, then the potential that America has will NEVER be reached!! "A HOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CANNOT STAND!!!" And, as long as the color of a man's skin can be an obstacle to his birthright (whether you admit it or not), progress, truth, and justice will never have a place here and the groundwork for stolen future elections will grow even stronger.
Hear! Hear!
Do away with the electoral college,pledged/super delegates who are after ALL ordinary citizens and should be as HYPE-less as the rest of us. National elections are not a poker game!
Do away with caucuses too, no-one should be politely 'harassed' into dealing their vote. And the few should NEVER decide or the majority!
Let each voter do their own research on each candidate and then BE ALLOWED to follow their conscience IN PRIVATE!
Do away with all double voting systems like Texas with its ridiculous 'two-step'.
If America is a country,of,by and for the people let all States vote AT THE SAME TIME,in the main election eg. Friday noon through to Sunday noon.
AND PLEASE,stop using the corporate 'newspeak' channels as campaign channels,it's just another reason to NOT WATCH THEM.
The American election system is SO UP THE SPOUT one would think it was 50 different COUNTRIES voting, not ONE Nation!
Every individual State should have THE SAME National Federal voting rules and regs as all 49 others.
Enough of all this spin crap,"As Ohio votes,so votes the Nation" etc,
it's demeaning to other States who are just as proud of their COUNTRY.
And,follow the same practise i.e. paper ballots WITH LEGAL PAPER receipts to confirm that each vote has not been abused,or flipped etc.
Anyone using purging, caging and other fraudulent election behaviour, should be charged as felons, arrested and tried for abuse of the Constitution and citizens rights!
I have seen MORE fair and Democratic elections in Western Europe and Canada, than I EVER saw in America,YET.
But,I'm optimistic that America can move to a better system.
The system,Nationwide, can be uniform, safe, honest and transparent not to mention MUCH cheaper instead of this extortionate wasting of money and blatant corruption that we have now.
Let the parties pick who they want in one big day of primaries, then a few months later have the people vote in the main election. No pledged delegates or superdelegates allowed, and no electoral college either. We pick our President based on what the majority of people want.
After the elections of 2000 and 2004, the U.S. voting system has been thrust into the spotlight. What do you think about the cracks in the system? What parts of the world have a better system, and why?
