What makes the Jewish in Israel think they are GODS chosen people? They do not even know their history. GODS chosen people do not work in the manner in which they do. Sad to say but they ARE NOT HIS chosen people. The arrogance and ignorance of them to think such a thing!

I think what President Carter is doing is a great thing. We need to settle our differences, talk, and make truces. We need more understanding and need to live and let live. I am a american and am appalled at the actions of our government against other nations. We all aren't barbaric ignorant thinkers.

I am another Carter supporter; too bad that all past US presidents don't follow his noble lead. The notion put out by, among others, the cowboy president, that one should not talk with one's "enemies" is insane...absolute fundamentalist insanity. Robert Fisk's book "The Great War for Civilization" should be required reading for every American and Israeli; governments should remember that when the masses get riled up sufficiently....well, you know, the French Revolution and all of that. Israel's "let them eat cake" attitude will one day bite them and quite possibly the rest of the world, you know where. My heart goes out to the ordinary people living in Gaza and all those of Palestine who were robbed of their homes based on some old testament myth of a promised land to a chosen people. The world better wake up before its to late. ah...what a wistful dream that is!

It's been a while since I've commented here, and I always appreciate what Grassroots has to say- I find G's comments to reflect a true compassion for the downtrodden peoples of Palestine, and genuine hope for the possibility of a peaceful resolution to the current difficulties.

I find it unfortunate that Mr. Yafet has fallen prey to the popular malady of accusing all who support human rights in Palestine of being anti-Jewish Nazis.(One cannot say anti-semitic, because all parties involved are semitic, with the exception of the Jews of European extraction, who are not semitic at all.)

I hope with Grassroots that peaceful solution can be found, because the alternative is too horrible to contemplate. If a peaceful solution is not found, the entire globe will be caught up in the conflagaration started between the Zionist ubermenschen and the Palestinians currently being ground beneath the Zionist jackboots.

Here is the only route to peace that I can see: Israel must drop its race supremist-apartheid policies, give full and equal human and civil rights to all Palestinians, tear down the wall, annex all territories, and have a Single State in which all inhabitants enjoy full, equal and comprehensive civil and human rights.

This is the only peaceful solution. All else will lead to a devastating 3-front war between Israel, and a Hamas/Fatah/Hizbullah confederation. It will be inevitable that Lebanon, and Syria will be immediately drawn in, and a second-wave inevitability that Iran and Shiite Iraq will be drawn in, and a third wave inevitability that Jordan and Egypt and Saudi Arabia and the United States will be drawn in. If we think commodity and food prices are high now, or that riots and political instability are incipient now, just wait until this war starts. It will be WW3. It will kill, not millions, but billions of people. It is up to the WORLD to put pressure on Israel to stop the insanity and to act with responsibility towards the rest of the globe, which Israel has taken hostage in the greatest terrorist act in all of history.

BIG KUDOS to Jimmy Carter! Now there's a diplomatic politician.
He may not agree with Hamas,but he,like many people realise that Hamas does remain a LEGALLY ELECTED PARTY,and as a sign of respect for the ordinary people who voted for them Carter is willing to sit,with mutual respect,over tea and sweets(much LESS HARMFUL THAN Israeli drone MISSILES and Qassam ROCKETS) and try to debate and discuss problems which are SOLVABLE!
I admire anyone who puts discussion and dialogue between so-called 'enemies',before the killing of innocents.
Carter is a man who will go to the ends of the earth to try to reach a mutual agreement and acceptable compromise between rival sides.He is a TRUE gentleman.
Hamas have their stubborness and preferences,BUT,so does every other POLITICAL PARTY who having been elected by the people,have a right to be heard,with mutual respect.
So,Jimmy,don't you listen to Hilarity TinClone or John McMAIM! They are pre-emptive actioneers ONLY,who are already on AGENDAS,and we all know where that leads! Right back to the dark ages.
I was impressed with Barack Obama when he said he would commit to mutually respectful dialogue with Iran before firing off MERCILESS bombs to kill ANY innocents!
A brave soldier is one who meets his counterpart at midfield to talk a mutual solution FIRST! And only after "ALL ELSE FAILS"........
I have read many of Carters books and always been impressed by his humanity,common-sense,humour and PATIENCE and compassion.
And he's always been strong,but humble enough,to ADMIT his mistakes.
He,like Obama,has the strength of character,intelligence and affable nature to be(AND IS)GREAT Ambassadors of peace for THE USA,and LORD KNOWS we need that right now!!!
They show that it is NOT weak to engage others,who may differ in ideology, in peaceful dialogue and mutual resolution.
After all, it is the responsibility to seek peace before war.
And war should ALWAYS be the absolute LAST resort on the table.
We ALL owe that to our childrens children and our OWN collective CONSCIENCE.
Men like Carter and Obama show the wisdom and STRENGTH,that could put American national and international INTEGRITY back in ONE PIECE!
Hell,Jimmy OR Barack,you just call and I will pack a bag and pop over there WITH YOU! Tea and dates ANYTIME,whether in Tehran OR GAZA, before rocks,guns and bombs!

Israel is discussing with Egypt the possibility of 'casting' Hamas controlled Gaza 'adrift' in an Arabian 'sea' called the Sinai? And Egypt is supposed to be the NEW 'LANDLORD'? Providing all the power resources???
Is Israel daring to consider putting Gaza up for 'adoption'by the Egyptians in these moves that include Egypt beginning to supply ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO GAZA,instead of the Israelis doing it?
What next? All Gazan Palestinians will be MADE TO BECOME EGYPTIANS?
Is Israel going to give all the 'slap-on-the-back' favours,jobs,food,medicines,invitations to come for tea etc to the West Bank and COMPLETELY OUST Gaza because it HAPPENED to hold a LEGAL election in favour of a party that America and Israel STILL LABEL AS "TERRORIST"? Yeh Right!

-demolish the Palestinian homes in total,with people(including foreign activists) STILL INSIDE!
-revamp a disgracefully neglected sewage system that's ALREADY spreading disease,
-open up a few nice coffee shops,restock the STARK empty shelves of abandoned stores and open up stylish salons,and discos where their Israeli kids can get stone-arsed drunk,or high on DRUGS as they do NOW!
-AND,BUILD NICE NEW 'Jewish only' billionaire 'TRUMP-STYLE' condominiums/villas,along a valued sea-side location, to sell to any other NATIONALITY as long as they be Jewish!!!
Sounds just like the plan for the devastated Katrina area,right here in the lil'ole' U.S.OF A!
