The saddest part is that the journalists,reporters AND TV PRESENTERS have exchanged their ethics,morals,principles,which SHOULD defend and PROTECT the PEOPLES FREEDOM and neutrality of the press FOR THEIR CORPORATE SALARIES.
They didn't even blink in OUTRAGE when the Palestine Hotel,the KNOWN residence of the WORLD MEDIA,was attacked by our own forces,and reporters ON THE ROOF were blown up when they CLEARLY HAD THEIR "PRESS" FLAK-VESTS ON!!!! It was just seen as a 'good story'.
If they REALLY cared about the Freedom of the press and all the people who suffer and put their lives on the line to bring US the truth,WHETHER PAINFUL OR UGLY AS LIFE IS,they would down their microphones,close their notebooks and refuse all celebrity/sports coverage,shut down the air waves,walk out of the pressrooms and protest on the public streets and refuse to comply with,or broadcast,STATE SPONSORED NEWSPEAK, and the big kahuna--CORPORATE ADVERTISING!
Didn't that used to be the RIGHT,ETHICAL,PROFESSIONAL GOOD THING to do,in the days when the press had guts and gonads to defend their colleagues,and express,OPENLY,AND IN PRINT,their moral and ethical OUTRAGE AND DISGUST ???
And to hell with the darn CEO's!
The mainstream media 'loyalty' is no longer to freedom of speech,public press,TRUTH and justice.That's a memory,just like "Democracy",which is also LONG GONE and we have just a skin-deep facade in it's place!

This is another example of this Administration's war crimes! How do you throw an innocent reporter in Guantanamo and the media in this country remains silent about it? What if he was an American reporter? This is shameful! Thank you Jamal for shining the spotlite on this crime.

I am glad that Sami is,at last,free,after being ILLEGALLY,IMMORALLY,INHUMANELY held, for SO LONG, without his international,human and spiritual rights.
When I think of all those people,including Sami,Jose Padilla,Sami Al Arian etc, who were held WITHOUT their judicial rights without ANY SEMBLANCE OF EVIDENCE OF GUILT THAT WAS PROVEN OR VALIDATED,before their incarceration,my OWN human dignity IS ALSO VIOLATED!!!
And my National pride and National conscience cannot forgive Bush for arrogantly undermining our TOTAL American human dignity and blatantly committed SO MANY international war-crimes and International human-rights abuses!
Even the moral,human and spiritual dignity and conscience,of those in charge of hell-holes like Guantanamo hve been abused and endangered for years to come,just because they followed the orders,patriotically,of an impotent,lawless,dangerously arrogant and VERY TUNNELLED VISION Commander in Chief.
In my opinion,as an American who loves my country but believes in Freedom,Rule of Law and equal justice I believe that Bush is perhaps the WORST PRESIDENT we have ever had.
My heart breaks when I think of how our American political mentors and public-servants,have abused and tortured foreigners AND DOMESTIC CITIZENS,gone against EVERY GODDAM Constitutional law and shredded the Bill of Rights and allowed Bush to make a paradigm shift in our political and international image and reputation that has turned America into EVERYTHING THAT WE HAVE ALWAYS FOUGHT NOT TO BE!!!!
None of this destruction of America's International integrity has ANYTHING TO DO WITH 9/11 or scum like Bin Laden,that is extra-circumstantial.
The fault for this violation of AMERICAN DIGNITY lays in the ARROGANT LAP of(and I repeat) the worst and possibly the most dangerous(and that's NOT a compliment to you Bush,so don't "swagger" too much) and UNAMERICAN President that's ever held the keys to the 'kingdom'.
Sami should take Bush,Cheney,Rumsfeld,Rice and Gonzales to the Hague Court and sue their butts off for:
-torture,
-inhumane treatment,
-absense of rights,legal council,
-the right of trial by civil jury IF THERE WAS ANY EVIDENCE,
-and he,(and his fellow INNOCENT detainees),who have had no clear evidence to prove his guilt,should be compensated for:
-6 years loss of salary as a journalist,
-all necessary medical fees needed for recovery from illegal abuse,including physical,mental,emotional and spiritual torture,
-and a MASSIVE public apology,from our Congress for the hardships endured by the detainees families.
If we had had a truely Good Christian,and just President/Public Servant,who was a competent international crisis leader,AND A COMPETENT DOMESTIC CRISIS leader, we wouldn't have had the last eight years of loss of American dignity.
But Bush has been NONE OF THESE,he has been a lawless thorn in Americas backside,MORE THAN ANY PALTRY scum like Bin Laden could ever be!
Bush,I love my country,you do not represent the America,and its amazing people, that I know and LOVE.
And,you have shamed us,and all we stand,OR STOOD,for and were ENVIED FOR,AROUND THE GLOBE!
To all innocent people,foreign and domestic,illegally 'detained' under our glorious Stars and Stripes,(approx.35,0000 worldwide at present estimates apparently),
I hope you can forgive us this dark period in history and remember.....OUR DIGNITY AS A NATION has also been greatly violated,but by those we would least have EXPECTED.
Sami,as you,and others,pick up the pieces of your lives,dignity and pride we,the ordinary people of America,will be preparing to do EXACTLY THE SAME.

Sami Al Hajj,is right

Imprisoned for six years without being charged or given a trial, Al Jazeera cameraman Sami Al Hajj was finally released from the US Navy prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The man, who was "emaciated," as his attorney said, because of his hunger strike which began in January 2007, was taken to a hospital and later arrived home in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.

"I've been dreaming of this moment for the past seven years," the cameraman said in an interview with Al Jazeera. Saying that "rats are treated with more humanity", Al Hajj also said that the inmates' "human dignity was violated".
