Well done Israel! You are really beginning to show your 'true' colours now.
Below is the official statement given to IPS news,by Mr Moh'd Omer,young award winning and internationally WELL KNOWN Palestinian journalist,from Gaza.
It,very graphically,describes how he was 'welcomed' back home,by the Israelis,following a European trip to speak about his work as a free press journalist,and pick up his Martha Gellhorn Award(shared with Dahr Jamail).
Considering that Israel needs so MANY people/countries to survive,it really knows how to 'THANK THEM'!
The only "Democracy" in the Middle East shows its undying 'respect' for freedom and civil liberties,with very 'memorable' results.
It also shows how much it REALLY 'respects' European nations and diplomacy as well as International Laws on Human Rights.
I found the derogatory comments,about Holland and Greece,from the Israeli Shin Bet/IDF etc VERY 'ILLUMINATING',shall we say.
Obviously,this ONLY Middle Eastern "Democracy" has its OWN version of what Democracy should be.
Kind of reminds me of the level of 'freedom,fairness and transparency' of Nazi Germany,South Africa during Apartheid,Burma under the Junta,Zimbabwe under Mugabe, and perhaps even cold-war USSR!
But,read for yourselves and ask yourselves.....why would a "democracy" treat ANY JOURNALIST in such a way? What could they possibly have to HIDE that we don't know about ALREADY?

At least Mr Omer is still alive and recovering from his abuse and humiliation.

In light of the recent assault,BY THE ISRAELIS,on your colleague and fellow journalist Mohammed Omer I can only say that the video below of John Pilger,Dahr Jamail and Mohammed Omer in London,at a happy,free and HONOURABLE awards ceremony,highlights to me,the sad pathetic OPPOSITE on the Israeli side,where mounting brutality,jealousy,psychopathic paranoia,combined with FEAR OF THE TRUTH BEING REVEALED is festering,right now,inside the State of Israel and amongst its politicians.

I second that especially since I have the pleasure of working with both of them. Both Dahr and Omer are contributors to my radio show on KPOO and Dahr also appeared on Link TV and streams Mosaic on his website!

It was SO good to read in the British newspapers about the Martha Gellhorn Prize(2008) for journalism to be given,jointly,to two great young freelance journalists who put themselves on the frontline of the battle of the FREE PRESS and justice!
Dahr Jamail and Mohammed Omer who have regularly been seen on the EXCELLANT 'Democracy Now' news programme,will be honoured jointly with their prize for their determination to BRING US,the people, the news.
They will receive their prestigious award in London at the BAFTA awards on June 16th.Lord knows,young journalists such as they,deserve it.
Hopefully,Mr Omer will be able to humbly accept his award IN PERSON,IF he is allowed PERMISSION to leave his Gaza home where he,like over a million others,are being held prisoner by the Israelis.
If Israel cannot be SO GENEROUS,at least he,like Dahr Jamail,will STILL have the worldwide recognition they deserve,with their award and prize.
