Ask the majority of the Nationals who live in these countries,into which America 'plops' itself,and they will tell you that they wish the American bases,and their miliatry personnel,would just fold up and leave,FOR GOOD.Because they are not NEEDED OR WANTED unless CALLED FOR.
They DO NOT WANT THE PRESENCE OF America IN UNIFORM,WITH ARMS,it's oppressive and invasive.They would rather have Americans temporarily residing as friendly civilians where ALL SOVEREIGN rights of ALL host Nations are ABIDED BY RESPECTFULLY.

Because,whether you are INTERESTED OR NOT the answer will invariably be,"NO THANKYOU MATE".
McCain,if you REALLY BELIEVE IN DEMOCRACY AND FREEDOM,and are so sure Iraq wants us there and for HOWEVER LONG,sit back and diplomatically let them have a National Referendum to hear the Iraqi voice as a whole.
If the Iraqi answer is NO, then America should politely,promptly and congenially pack up and go!!! Iraq should NOT BE ANOTHER AMERICAN base from which to launch OUR actions upon the Middle/Near East,OR CONTROL THEIR resources,FOR OURSELVES!
