Free Speech TV showed a wonderful 2 hour program last night on the transformation of Israel/Palestine into one State with equal rights for all regardless of faith or race,including the open Right of Return for Palestinians(not measured by the 1967 borders).
It emphasized the importance of Isreali/Palestinian open discussion on the need for ZOCHROT("WE Remember) toward the NAKBA as a way of RE-EDUCATING Israelis(OLD AND YOUNG) who have had the Nakba of 700,000 Palestinians in 1948 erased from their brains(voluntarily OR BY FORCE)!
The 'Committee For Open Discussion of Zionism'(CODZ)was made up of a panel of speakers using intellectual,scientific,political,reasonable and common-sensical discussion which INVITED PEACEFUL THOUGHT instead of the 'boot-in-your-face'oppressive argument of Faith and Fear and Oppression,which sadly seem to be BIG 'bed-partners' THESE DAYS,in some circles!
It was wonderful to watch A BRIGHT picture of Israel/Palestine,as a secular,Democratic State of equal Rights for all,emerge at a time when nothing seems certain except the spillage of MORE BLOOD on all sides,from young and old.
The Committee was made up of a fantastic panel of speakers including:
Rabbi-Dr.Susan L.Einbinder,
Ali Abunimah(co-founder of 'Electronic Intifada' and author),
Joel Kovel(Prof.of Social Studies and MARVELLOUS author),
Amaya Galili(Israeli Co-Ordinator of the Education program of 'ZOCHROT'-We Remember),
and Kathleen?,a CIA Middle East analyst(I believe).
I would have LIKED TO HAVE SEEN Sen.Barack Obama and John McCain there aswell,but maybe soon?
Neither will get MY VOTE until I know how they REALLY stand on all this!
It was wonderful to hear and see so many TABOO subjects,(that the world ALREADY knows about anyway)being discussed,including:
-ZOCHROT
-The NAKBA
-Open Right of Return(Infrastructure/land OR Fiscal compensation)to pre-1948 situation,
-The danger of AIPAC and American politicians,(especially Christian Zionists)blind loyalty to The State of Israel to the point where America is abandoning many of it's own Democratic principles and it's OWN people,domestically,for fiscal and military support to foreigners in an LONG-STANDING ILLEGAL VENTURE of racism and ethnic-cleansing to others.
-The use of U.N. LEGAL actions such as Boycott,Divestment and Sanctions AGAINST Israel in order to 'knock' some ethical and MORAL sense into their heads and open the door to a very feasible,though difficult,BUT WORTH-IT,ONE-STATE SOLUTION.

Personally,I couldn't help but feel that this whole program/discussion was such a civilized, rational and truthful approach to helping people(and their children)on both sides to find peace and equal rights and respect.

Where REASON and TRUTH come before FEAR AND FAITH in establishing a mutual accord? ABSOLUTELY!
Because it's ONLY in a SECULAR State that everyone WINS.
If people stop fighting,by mutual accord,then everyone WINS.
The Rule of Law takes it's respectful place as priority,and everyone gets to practise their faith freely without using it as an OPPRESSIVE weapon against anyone 'different'.Because whether the Zionists like it OR NOT they ARE the same as EVERYONE else.All humans and bleed RED!
Is "Zion" already here in Washington D.C.?
Is our Congress so weak against racist thugs like most of AIPAC,that they will put THEM first,OVER the American people as a whole?

I was especially effected by the theme of ZOCHROT(remembering).
I found it hard to deal with how easily so many (but not all)Israeli Jews had erased,or still denied,the historical fact of the 1948 catastrophe of the Palestinians. Morally and Ethically,there is no difference between the HOLOCAUST and the NAKBA!
YET,they are the first PEOPLE to scream and shout if the world appears to forget FOR A MINUTE the Holocaust!!!!
How can THEY FORGET so easily,the NAKBA,and then expect the world to REMEMBER the Nazi Holocaust?
I guess what's BAD for one,ISN'T bad for ALL? I don't think so!

This was an incredible program to watch,for anyone who stills hopes and believes that a ONE-STATE solution IS THE ONLY WAY!
All these other peace-processes are merely a ruse to continue the real bloodshed in chasing a myth. And an excuse for AMERICAN CONGRESS to NOT say,finally,"ENOUGH, enough,enough"! Why waste our money on myths when we can apply it to concrete right-now problems?
LinkTV,and any other channels should air these programs,just like Free Speech TV.
If South Africa can instigate their own version of ZOCHROT,after the official end of Apartheid,THEN SO SHOULD ISRAEL.
And as long as they deny the NAKBA of 1948 to the present day they have no moral OR ETHICAL 'podium' from which to demand that anyone else remember THEIR holocaust!
