Well, the International Olympic Committee really know how to hit a Nation when it's already down.
I was so p***** off at the IOC 's paltry decision about barring Iraq's athletes
that I sent them a letter(below)opinionating and asking them to reconsider.
Perhaps all you guys out there, who also think this is unfair, might do the same, and let's see Iraqi athletes have some FUN FOR A CHANGE. God knows they deserve it.
Peace,Salaam,Shalom!

Dear Sir /Madam,
I am appalled at the recent decision to barr the small number of Iraqi athletes from this years games because of a trivial political argument at a time when their country and people have been through terrible suffering and economic catastrophe.
The double-standards here are so blatant, it is UNETHICAL and IMMORAL for the IOC to make a meal out of crumb, when the very hosts themeselves(China) are one of the most controversial countries for human rights abuse,eco-violations,and abuse of citizens rights.
Iraq is going through ENORMOUS changes and challenges right now.The people THEMSELVES don't even know if they are going backwards OR FORWARDS.
Your welcoming acceptance of their team would be a small light of self-esteem,pride and DIGNITY in a very dark, and undeserved, tunnel right now.
The only thing the IOC(which is founded on peace, arts, unpolitical sports and cultural harmony),should be concerned about, is whether the athletes WOULD BE ABUSED by their National Sports Committee, and that is HIGHLY unlikely.Odai Hussein is dead!
Or would the IOC be 'happier' with someone like ODAI HUSSEIN in charge again, torturing his OWN ATHLETES??
I am embarrassed that a committee such as the IOC, that can allow a Nation(China) awash with human rights abuse to HOST the games, can turn and quibble over a small technical hiccup,in a NATION going through terrible circumstances, and many changes, involuntarily(Iraq).
If you want to maintain a good global following I would ask you to consider your own ethical and moral standards before barring others from a NON-POLITICAL event.
Please RECONSIDER your decision on the grounds of mutual peace and harmony between Nations. Give them a break guys! The world would WELCOME them!
It's not much for you to do,BUT,it would mean such a lot to the Iraqi people who are wonderful people, with a lot of pride, love their sports, and have much to offer!
Do the OLYMPIC thing guys! Let a few dreams come true in a dark night,
Thankyou!
