Hey Grassroots. Bless your subversive heart -- but trying to use those songs would land us in the poorhouse trying to secure the rights! Thanks for the suggestion, though ;)
On a related note, think about all the great songs that Clear Channel won't play simply because they don't appeal to the demographic they want to sell things to (young adults who want whiter teeth, etc.). It may not be a political "blacklist" but the result is the same in many ways: alternative voices do not get heard.
I have just been reading Amy and Dave Goodman's book,"The Exception to the Rulers'.It's a very enlightening book! I still find it hard to fathom how a media conglomerate of the 'Land of the Free' USA, could end up issuing a memo, banning over 150 songs(page 155)post-9/11 because of an order from Clear Channel Communications. That the list of these songs, was obtained by Michael Moore, from a "radio station manager",and it included John Lennon's 'Imagine' and 'Bridge over troubled water',Peace Train etc! Heck! I grew up with those songs!
Perhaps LinkTV should do a program on this and play all,or some,of the songs millions of 'freedom of speech' USA(and world)listeners were NOT ALLOWED TO LISTEN TO!
Or,perhaps LinkTV could put a CD together, with the songs, for sale!
I'll buy one,for sure!
