I am glad I got to see the "good" America for a few years before it started going to shit. And I'm even happier that I won't be around once it starts to get REALLY bad. I always use the middle-class as a barometer for the state of the USA, and right now it stinks.

Our downfall IMO is having life-long politicians that do what's in the best interest of their party rather than the best interest of the people. In the early days, out founding fathers were not politicians. George Washington was a farmer, Thomas Jefferson was Farmer/Lawyer, Andrew Jackson was a farmer/judge. The point is, these people had their own lives, then served for x amount of years, then left to go back to their normal lives. If you have life-long politicians like today they have too much influence over the long term. I am a firm believer that a goverment should be as small and non-intrusive as possible but these people who are in politics for 50 years need to make the goverment as large as possible to protect their interests (just like any other occupation). But the government can't just be "another occupation". The system is far too covoluted for its own good. Also, just like every other "great empire" throughout history, the only thing that will defeat us is ourselves and we are well on our way to that so I'm glad I'll be dead before that happens.

The media outlets like to use the term "war" to decribe the situation the USA is in. War is a sexy term for these news channels but is it really a war? It's just a police state with no real end-game. If it was an actual war it would have been over within a week or so (once their military was defeated). That would have been much "easier". So how about letting the Iraqi people police themselves. America spends $2,000,000,000 a week for what? That money could be used much better in America.
on another note, there are a lot of people with an America-hating agenda on this site that take any shot they can towards the US and categorize 300,000,000 people into one type of person they hate. And when you call these people out they tend to back-pedal, so if you hate America don't hide your hatred. Proclaim it in this thread (I'm looking at you Grassroots).
