Anyone with a 3rd grade education knows that Obama (or any other president) isn't even close to a "socialist". That state won't be controlling the means of production. The state won't be assigning salaries to people; doctors won't earn the same ammount as waitress', The government won't be rationing out supplies.

I guess you think Canada is socialist too? Perhaps in your view all taxes are socialist in nature.

If 5% of the people own 95% of the wealth, then by the governemnt trying to create more of a balance isn't socialism, it's just common sense. Let's take this theory to the extremes and you can tell me which one you would prefer:
Option A) 0.000001% of the people own 99.999999% of the wealth.
Option B) 100% of the people own 0% of the wealth
Option C) 100% of the people own 100%
Option D) 25% of the people own 75% of the wealth

So I guess social security is socialism since that program takes money from people who have it and gives to people who need it?

In this election, the term "socialism" was just a buzzword in order to attack Obama, McCain himself would agree with this off the record. The McCain campaign had no other ways to attack him other than to call him socialist and dredge up marginal acquaintances from years past. If McCain spent more time talking about his good ideas he wouldn't have been villianized in the media.
Also, it's no mistake that Obama was able to raise SO MUCH more money than McCain.
Many Republican philosophies are becoming archaic because they are 19th century ideas with 19th century solutions in a 21st century world. Many of these ideas are based on religion and the combination of Church & State and these ideas don't fly anymore.

The problem is people DON'T have as much 'power' as they think they do! As the Govt takes over more and more -- "we the people" have less and less say....

OBama IS a Socialist! That is not even debatable. You can spew all of your half crocked 60's cliches and twisted truths you want to. It doesn't negate the truth. He surrounded himself with Socialist friends, mentors and associates his entire adult life. He was helped into power in Chicago strongly on the support of Socialist political organization in the area. A Socialist "educator" and a PLO spokesman held fund raisers for him in their homes. He is the lead DOG and poster child of the "new" Democratic party which has been conferring with the European Socialists for years on how to win this election and join the ranks of International Socialism.
