The U.S. can spend all the money in the world for propoganda but it will not succeed as long as it is still viewed as an occupying force in Iraq and a supporter of Israel.

LOL! Bipartisan propaganda goes back to the snake in the garden of Eden! Nothing new on that tale. It's the integrity and aims of the people distributing the propaganda that makes the difference.Bush has always been good at spreading propaganda,I just wish he had been wise and clever enough to act on intelligence information COMING IN, in the months prior to 9/11! He treated/ignored the CIA and FBI as if they were imbeciles when it was useful to him.Now he wants to 'green light'them to sell a war on Iran to the American people, like he'sold' the war on Iraq etc?
The only problem for me is,I love my country and want to see it safe from all those who would do it harm, but I have absolutely no faith or trust in it's present administration, and THAT worries me more than any terrorists here OR to come ever will!
If other countries are harboring anti-american terrorists/extremists, then,YES,use our covert intelligence services to their full potential ALWAYS,to inform and prevent. It's no good once the horse has already left the stable,UNLESS the adminstration chose to leave the'barn door open'?
When it comes to this 'beating the drums of war' against Iran? Sure! get the information/intelligence,but having already lost all their credibility ole'Dubya and 'Chain-um-up'Cheney had better have some irrefutable, independant and concrete PROOF to substantiate any future claims in front of the American people, who are paying the price for all this mess, financially AND emotionally! Once bitten, twice shy,Georgie Porgie!
At the end of the day,Propaganda is only strong,as long as the people choose to be ignorant, and the world is running short of 'ostriches',thank goodness!
BTW,Just how far does "non-lethal" go? Is it another way of saying,do anything you like that doesn't stop the heart from beating? Or, anything you like until the subject it classed as brain-dead? And where do they mention The Geneva Conventions? Or do they remain a dinosaur of modern history?

The CIA has been given the green light by the Bush administration to carry out a “war of information” against several states in the Middle East, including Iran, Lebanon and Syria, according to an article on The Raw Story.

Last month, ABC News reported that President Bush signed a presidential order allowing the CIA to carry out “non-lethal” covert operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to intelligence sources, there have been “at least two” other presidential orders signed over the past few years that have authorized the CIA to run an “open-secret” information war against Iranian interests, mainly leveraging resources and assets “within the United States and France.”

“It's a propaganda operation,” said a former intelligence official who demanded anonymity due to the sensitivity of the subject. “It is not new,” he added, explaining that the campaign has been going on for a long time and has Congressional funding and support.

$50 million was appropriated for the “Democracy Fund” and the “Broadcasting Board of Governors,” both earmarked for Iran operations. Previously, the U.S. has funded Al Hurra TV targetting an Arabic-speaking audience, but various polls show that it had very little impact. Is this the best way to spend taxpayers' money? Should the U.S. meddle in other countries affairs in the name of democracy?
