As Loch said,you have to take MANY NEWS sources and compare and contrast,filter out the propaganda.And,the first thing to find out is WHO OWNS THE NETWORK,what are their political/religious/familial leanings.
Then you can always bear that in mind when evaluating the news worthiness.
Whether it al-Jazeera,CNN,IBN,PressTV,BBC,al-Arabiyya,Maan,Deutsche,or TAS etc,etc all news channels have a LEAN depending on who OWNS them.
That the balance you have to equate.
No news is absolute GOSPEL!
In fact,no gospel is ABSOLUTE GOSPEL,with a human element involved(fallible)lol!
I have never known a news media that is totally UNBIASED.
But some are more unbiased than others.
You have to look at who owns al-Jazeera and see what they benefit from false propaganda.
Put it this way.Even Bush owes a lot to al-Jazeera,even though he won't admit it.
Because it was the owner of al-Jazeera(yes,Mr.Big Sheik)who told the CIA where KSM WAS HIDING in Pakistan,so the Pakistani ISI could pick him up and sell him,for 25 MILLION DOLLARS,to the CIA for waterboarding etc etc.
But it was also the SAME sheik who told the US that he would NOT use al-Jazeera as an American propaganda spring-board ONLY,despite the 'good relations' between Qatar and Washington,that it would report the news as it heard to benefit EVERYONE!
Not just Washington and Tel Aviv.
You never take ANY news at face-value.
Just like newspapers.Always find out who owns the papers first,what their politics/religious agendas are(if any)and read the news with all this in mind!
Always cross-reference and check.lol.
No news channel is perfect.
Especially when it's used as SIGNALS-INTELLIGENCE,and state propaganda,like in many nations,lol.
Al-Jazeera is a good channel,that covers many areas in Middle/Near East/Asia/Indonesia and Africa etc that American MS news channels PRETEND,OR DON'T KNOW,EXIST.
Take some of the areas in the world that al-Jazeera covers,and most of the US MAINSTREAM news-'spreaders'-info-tainers,DON'T even know where those places are on the map and neither do many of the American citizenry,lol!
LINKTV has done Americans a GREAT service by showing al-Jazeera.
It's the only channel in the whole USA(300 million people)that DOES!
All the Middle East/Asia shows it.All of Europe now voluntarily shows it.
Even ole' Britain has it regularly along with Arab channels from different nations and the UK.
It's only Bush's American Govt that labelled it the voice of the 'Axis of evil' lol!
And that's because they didn't want American citizens KNOWING what blunders Bush/Cheney were making in their foreign campaigns.
There's a WHOLE BUFFET of RICH tasty,wholesome news out there,you just have to try it all,examine who runs it and what their agendas's are.
Or,you can stick to a trashy 'hot-dogs' like CNN and FOX,where you know the content is cr** and will kill ya,LOL!
LINKTV,by airing al-Jazeera,did Americans a SERVICE by broadening their horizons and education!
It's just that many Americans don't like SEEING,HEARING unpleasant truths,because they have been mainly conditioned with myth!
BUT, MYTH can hurt you more than truth in the long run because it leaves one numb,dumb and VULNERABLE(just the way some Govt.like their citizens).

It is a damned shame that the US News Services are pandering to their networks in order to increase their ratings instead of actually reportimg the NEWS.

There are many Americans that want to know what is really happening in the World, but you are serving us inconsequential crap. The only way we can get the real picture is to surf the Net. Walter Cronkite would be appalled at this lax of real journalism.

I am afraid that we have entered a world with no boundries, but, maybe, we can wring some truths out of this.

With the internet, I can get news from any news service in the world. I can compare and contrast, and make evaluative judgments about how an individual story is covered.

Quite frankly, I find myself in the position of someone forty years ago, behind the Iron Curtain, who tried to pick up a BBC or VOA broadcast. I don't trust any domestic (US) mainstream news source. If I get information from such sources, I always try to verify it with outside sources. Most of the time, I find the US MSM information to be more distorted and biased than an outside source.

As a citizen of the World I am appalled by the lack of real news from any of the agencies. All we seem to get now is the spin from the different broadcasts depending upon the origin of the agencies.

Nobody reports the news as facts anymore. What ever happened to journalistic integrity!!!! I want to know what is actually happening in the World.

Especially in America the morning programs are full of fluff that are not worth the time to watch, I hope that at least one of the channels will decide to actually report the real news of the World.

Black African Muslims that have told me that Al Jazeera is very BIAS, it is KNOWN THAT IT IS FUNDED WITH MONEY FROM THE ARAB LEAGUE, IT DOES NOT REPORT ACCURATELY WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING IN DARFUR and IN THE MIDDLE EAST in an effort to PROTECT THE RADICAL ISLAMIC CENTRAL GOVERNMENT OF KARTHOUM, that is MURDERING tHE ALSO MUSLIM BLACK AFRICANS OF DARFUR with the intention of BRINGING IN AN ARAB POPULATION TO THE REGION,II IS ENCOURAGING arabs from the neighboring countries to populate Darfur.The Sudanese central government is doing an ethnic cleansing of the Black Africans.And there is NO INFORMATION OF THIS SERIOUS CRIME OF LINK TV. WHY? Is Link TV also bias?

Sad really how the USA and Israel ARE STILL the ONLY State/Nation to blacklist Al-Jazeera on the MSM.
It's a highly respected media outlet EVERYWHERE else in the world! LOL!
