"Crossing continents, covering thousands of miles and opening borders long closed are feats an emergency relief convoy trekking from London to Gaza has done in the past three weeks, finally arriving at Rafah, Egypt Sunday to break a crippling siege and deliver much needed aid to Gazans.
Viva Palestina, a British relief convoy headed by British Parliamentarian George Galloway and planned by hundreds of British volunteers, rolled into Rafah Sunday to deliver aid to thousands of destitute Palestinians in Gaza after crossing a 9000-mile route from London through France, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and finally entering Egypt through the Libyan Egyptian border on Thursday after which the convoy drove along the coast to reach Rafah Sunday.
"A lifeline from Britain to Gaza,” is the motto of Viva Palestina, which started out with 110 trucks from London but was doubled in Libya after the Gaddafi Foundation for Charity and Development donated 100 trucks laden with aid.

The convoy, which was over 3 miles long when it rolled into Egypt through the Sallum border between Libya and Egypt Thursday, and split before arriving to Rafah, with medical aid going into Gaza through the Rafah border crossing while food and other supplies entering via the Awja border, 43 miles south of Rafah.

“The convoy will split in order to allow medical aid through Rafah border and the rest will pass through Awja,” General Muhammed Shusha, governor of north Sinai, told AlArabiya.net.

"It’s a caravan of 500 kind hearts," Iftikhar Hussein, 25-year-old high school teacher from Birmingham who drove one of the trucks told AlArabiya.net.

"The convoy was received by a jubilant crowd, ready to help and encourage us on," he added. The convoy set out on Feb. 14 from London.

The convoy included a British fire engine, 12 ambulances, and many trucks full of medicine, food, clothes and toys for children, given by the various communities in Britain and the Gaddafi Foundation.

George Galloway, who is a peace advocate and staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause, organized the convoy in response to the humanitarian crisis Israel unleashed on Gaza for 22-days that left the impoverished Strip in ruins while killing 1300 and wounding 5000."

CAIRO - British MP George Galloway arrived in Cairo on Saturday to join a convoy that had set out from London last month carrying relief for war-torn Gaza, an airport official said.
Galloway was met by officials from Mubarak's ruling National Democratic Party.
The Egyptian government had arrested dozens of opposition members who demonstrated against Israel's December and January offensive on Gaza.
Egypt opened its Rafah border crossing with Gaza to aid and Palestinian wounded during part of the war, but has since closed it to aid.
The convoy includes 12 ambulances and a fire engine and carries more than one million pounds (1.4 million dollars, 1.1 million euros) worth of aid.

North Sinai Governor Mohammed Shosha, who was preparing a reception for the convoy in Sinai, said Egypt would allow Galloway and members of the convoy to enter Gaza through Rafah, but that entry of the convoy itself would have to be coordinated with Israel.
Israel's war on Gaza killed 1,330 Palestinians, mainly civilians, and wounded 5,450 others.
Among the dead were 437 children, 110 women, 123 elderly men, 14 medics and four journalists.
The wounded include 1,890 children and 200 people in serious condition.
The war also left tens of thousands of houses destroyed, while their residents remained homeless in the winter cold.
Israel, which wants to crush any Palestinian liberation movement, responded to Hamas's win in the elections with sanctions, and almost completely blockaded the impoverished coastal strip after Hamas seized power in 2007, although a ‘lighter’ siege had already existed before.
Human rights groups, both international and Israeli, slammed Israel’s siege of Gaza, branding it “collective punishment.”
A group of international lawyers and human rights activists had also accused Israel of committing “genocide” through its crippling blockade of the Strip.
Gaza is still considered under Israeli occupation as Israel controls air, sea and land access to the Strip.
The Rafah crossing with Egypt, Gaza's sole border crossing that bypasses Israel, rarely opens as Egypt is under immense US and Israeli pressure to keep the crossing shut.
Fatah has little administrative say in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, and has no power in Arab east Jerusalem, both of which were illegally occupied by Israel in 1967.
Israel also currently occupies the Lebanese Shabaa Farms and the Syrian Golan Heights."

No I don't feel any better. I don't hate olmert or livni or barak and definitely not shalit(poor guy). It just grinds my gears cause they blew a perfect chance last year to avoid this recent killing spree. I feel sorry for just about everybody still alive in Gaza city cause they don't have anything- plus israeli jets still bomb tunnels. And I feel sorry for innocent people living in israel cause they probably think the rocket attacks won't ever stop.
