The Israelis regular modus operandi is to STAGE excuses(rocket attacks etc)for ATTACKING Arab/muslims that they just see as LESS than human,instead of equals,in order to ETHNICALLY CLEANSE,and expel them FINALLY from Palestine.
Thereafter,any guerrilla factions will OBVIOUSLY fire back in RETALIATION to protect their kin and HOMES!(now in Gaza,2006 in Lebanon AND NOW in Lebanon again)

Is Israel justified in attacking Gaza? No. And Hamas is not justified in shooting rockets into Israel. All victims commit crime. The person or a nation who is too powerful to be a victim has the luxury of forgiveness. Only the very powerful can forgive. Everyone else scrabbles and scuffles with each other in the dirt.

However, in an unequal match, the person or nation with the power to actually change things carries more responsibility. Israel controls the resources, transportation, money, culture- in short, all initiative for peace or for war must come from Israel. The Palestinians can only react. (Although they could choose a non-violent form of reaction) Israel's justification for violence arises from the culture of victimization cultured by the Jewish people for the past 70 years.

There is never a time when violence is justified. Like my Pa said, "If you have to justify it, it's probably wrong."

To be fair to Mr. Bunz-

I get entirely angry when I see dead babies, crying mothers, and a lopsided slaughter. However, last night I woke up and thought about all these things for a long time. Our ability to be compassionate must over-rule our anger and frustration. Otherwise, forums like these simply become another battleground, where nothing is solved, and all that is produced is more violence. A physicist somewhere said that perhaps compassion is the doorway into a trans-dimensional reality, and that's how Jesus performed miracles. True or not, it is good to see things from another perspective.

Mr. Bunz comes to his position through channels all humans can understand. He deserves to have the needs and requests that underlie the bluster of his language understood.

If we are to be fair-minded, we have to understand the dilemma faced by European Jewish people after WW2.

Where were they to go? The Nazis had murdered a great number of them. They were almost entirely displaced, either by internment, or because they went into hiding, or simply because of the fortunes of war.

It wasn't a simple matter of them just going home.

If there had never been a Zionist movement, I suppose they would have resettled elsewhere, as Jews have done for thousands of years, perhaps in the Americas and in the Soviet bloc, those being the places most friendly to them.

But there was a Zionist movement, and the authorities at the time thought resettlement of Jews in Palestine was a good idea.

Everyone has to live somewhere. What is a people to do if they have no place to live?

It is a question that both Jew and Palestinian have to face. We all should be fair, and at least see it from the Jewish perspective. They have no other options, and they have a threat of extermination hanging over their heads.

It would make anyone stubborn and unreasonable.

The real question is, Can the issue be settled in a more productive way, or must it be a death struggle, in which the first side that can annihilate the other is the victor?

The intractable nature of the Jewish attitude can be understood. I don't think they pursue a successful strategy, but I am just as wrong for name-calling and accusation as are those I rail against. Perhaps we could brainstorm a better way to solve the crisis, one that doesn't involve killing and destruction.

Maybe aljazerra could run a satellite class on common sense. Terrorist pigs shoot missiles at the Jews and the IDF comes in and stops the hell out of anyone or anything that has munitions around.

An intelligent person knows that anyone who had common sense wouldn't hang around the explosives, but no, they would rather die in a building full of rockets and mortars than live in peace. jazz-tv is very good at showing pictures of dead bodies, but they would be doing more of a public service if they could teach the arabs how to use common sense to live in peace.
