"Surge" surge,surge....
There's only one "surge" that's going to do the Iraqi people any good.That's an Iraqi Surge,by Iraq,in Iraq,for a peaceful Iraq!!!
Saddam has gone,they have a chance to reshape their country as THEY want it,for a safe future.Not how anyone ELSE wants it,but how THEY want it.
But,they have to STAND UP,openly,to the world,and say, "This is what Iraq wants,so don't mess with us".If AMERICA doesn't like that,too bad.
Over the next decade or more,Iraq has got a tough task of establishing themselves as Independant,peaceful,free and not beholden TO ANYONE AROUND THEM except as friends! There's nothing I personally want from Iraq except that friendship in the future.It was bad enough to see sectarian battles,NOW we hear of Shia against Shia,Sunni against Sunni,kurds etc.That is something that America will NEVER solve,that's tribal power and family bitterness that goes back centuries.ONLY the Iraqi people can solve that, and that 'in-fighting' should NOT be an excuse for American military to stay longer.We can't take cae of that baby!
We cannot,and SHOULD not,stay and BABYSIT their local squabbles which are OLDER THAN AMERICA LOL!. They have to do that themselves before they can stand,united as a NEW IRAQ,a peaceful country,INSHALLAH,with diplomatic relations with all neighbours,Islamic and non-Islamic.
Quit the "surges"! Begin to withdraw militarily,now,and let the Iraqi people get on with rebuiding their country AS THEY WISH.All they need is our CIVILIAN friendship and fiscal help,IF THEY WANT IT,because we sure owe them that much at least,thanks to the mess Bush created! Thank Goodness he doesn't speak for ALL Americans! I'll be glad to see the back of him,BECAUSE I LOVE MY COUNTRY!!!
I may be an "infidel" LOL,but I would rather hand an Iraqi a platter of tea and dates,than point a gun at them.The greatest thing we ALL have in common is the ONE God! So,I really hope,that soon,all the in-fighting will stop and the Iraqi people will unite as Nationals and forget their differences. I don't want to see ANY AMERICAN TROOP surge.Just a surge of Iraqi people,to shake hands and say to anyone who would disrupt or ruin that,"Back off and respectfully leave us alone.We'll call YOU,as friends,when we need you".
It will be difficult and will take time,hope and strength,but they'll do it.Heck,they've been through the tough stuff already,FOR YEARS,this stage should be a blessing and something to enjoy! This is a poignant time coming,for their children to remember.It Should be GOOD!
If the Iraqi people want us to leave,we should leave!And only come back as invited friends!

The White House is playing down a report by the investigative arm of the US congress which contradicts key Bush administration claims of progress in Iraq.
Portions of the draft report, compiled by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and due to be released next week, have been leaked to the media.
Among its conclusions: the so-called troop "surge" in Iraq is not the success the Bush administration has claimed.
