Hena Cuevas has an extensive background working in the US and Latin America. She’s worked as correspondent for the two main Spanish-language newsmagazine programs Aquí y Ahora on the Univision network and Sin Fronteras for NBC-Telemundo

She’s also produced and reported for the CNN Newsgroup. While at CNN-USA, she was a producer/correspondent in the Los Angeles and Chicago bureaus covering a variety of stories including the presidential election in 2000 and the 1st anniversary of the Columbine shootings.  She also worked for CNN’s 24-hour international Spanish-language network CNN EN ESPAÑOL where she fill-in anchored from Atlanta. She also reported from Latin America including coverage of the relief efforts after Hurricane Mitch in Nicaragua and Guatemala, and the handover of the Panama Canal in 1999.  

As a producer for the international division of NBC Newschannel, she coordinated the coverage of the deaths of Princess Diana and Mother Teresa, as well as the handover of Hong Kong in 1997.

She’s the recipient of numerous awards and nominations including the Emmy, the Golden Mike, the Imagen Award as well as the Genesis Award.

She was born and raised in Panama City, Panama and is fluent in English and Spanish.

Hena Cuevas tiene una extensa trayectoria periodística trabajando en Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica. Ha servido como corresponsal para los dos principales programas nacionales en español: Aquí y Ahora para la cadena Univisión, y Sin Fronteras de  NBC-Telemundo.

Durante cinco años trabajó para el grupo CNN. En CNN-USA, trabajó desde las oficinas de Chicago y Los Angeles como productora/corresponsal en inglés cubriendo importantes eventos como el 1er aniversario de la masacre estudiantil en Columbine, Colorado y la elección presidencial en Tallahasee, Florida en el 2000.  Mientras estuvo en CNN en Español en Atlanta sirvió como presentadora de varios noticieros matutinos y reportó desde diversos lugares como Nueva York para el cambio del milenio, al igual de los esfuerzos de ayuda en Guatemala y Nicaragua después del Huracán Mitch. A fines de 1998 fue la productora y reportera de un programa especial de media hora acerca de los retos que enfrentaba Panamá faltando un año para el traspaso del Canal.

Ha recibido varios premios y nominaciones por su trabajo incluyendo el Emmy, el Micrófono de Oro (Golden Mike), el premio Imagen, y el premio Génesis.
