Saudi Forces Bomb Yemeni Rebels on Southern Border
BBC Arabic, UKPresenter, Female #1
A Yemeni military source has denied that Saudi fighters have carried out air raids and shelled targets in the areas of Hasama and Malahith in the province of Saada. The source accused the Houthi group of trying to drag Saudi Arabia into the war that has been raging in the province. The source, however, didn’t confirm whether the Yemeni army used the Saudi Mount Dukhan or not to launch attacks on Houthi positions. Meanwhile, Saudi news agencies criticized the Houthi group over the report, and warned them against violating Saudi sovereignty and disrupting its security.

The fence on the Yemeni side of the border with Saudi Arabia seems unable to spare Yemen’s northern neighbor from the war between the two feuding Brothers in Saada: The Yemeni government and the Houthis. After days of bloody cashes with the Yemeni armed forces, Houthi rebels announced that they have seized control of Mount Dokhan in Saudi Arabia. Houthi rebels have shown images of weapons and militarily gear, which they claim to have seized from the Yemeni army in Mount Dokhan. Meanwhile, the Yemeni government said that its military has made major achievements on the various battlefronts in Saada. In addition, the Yemeni government has denied the Houthis’ claim of seizing control of Mount Dokhan. In another development, the Saudi news agencies launched a war of words against the Houthi rebels.Riyadh accused the Houthis of spying for Iran, and warned them of a swift response. The Saudi government took precautions, and evacuated several border towns and shut down local schools. It seems that Saudi Arabia is preparing for a military action against the Houthi positions in the strategic Mount Dokhan region. One Saudi soldier was killed and 11 others were wounded in a previous clash with the Houthi rebels. Any military action by Saudi Arabia will further fuel the situation the region.
Israel complains to U.N. over alleged Hezbollah arms
Dubai TV, UAEPresenter, Male #1
Hezbollah is denying any links to a ship carrying hundreds of tons of weapons seized by the Israeli naval forces. Israel intercepted the vessel yesterday and said that it was carrying weapons from Iran to Hezbollah via Syria. However, Tehran and Damascus denied any links to the ship. The Israeli side of the story regarding the alleged vessel has different indications: At the international level, the Israeli government is trying to pave the way for a new war against all political fronts posing threats to its security. At the internal level, Israel is trying to rally support among the Israeli public. Sheruk Asa’ad reports from occupied Jerusalem.
Reporter, Female #1
Israel’s claim of seizing a ship carrying weapons from Iran to Hezbollah comes in the context of exaggeration and rhetoric. First, Israel is trying to stir fear among the Israeli public in order to rally support for its right-wing government. Every time the Israeli government starts to lose momentum, it issues security threat alerts. Second, Israel is seeking to derail the international efforts aimed at resolving the Iranian nuclear issue, in order to keep the military option open.
Guest, Male #2
Israel is seeking to abort western diplomatic efforts with Iran in order to launch a preemptive strike against Tehran. With this, Israel will force the international community to halt its talks with Iran.

This news coincided with the Goldstone report, which accuses Israel of committing war crimes in Gaza.
Guest, Male #3
Israel is under tremendous pressure over the Goldstone report. It wants to divert attention, and shows the world that it’s being targeted and treated unjustly.
Reporter, Female #1
The Israeli side of the story was preceded by security alerts: Israel warned that Hamas test-fired an Iranian long-range missile capable of reaching Tel Aviv. It seems that Israel is preparing for a new escalation in the Gaza Strip.
Guest, Male #4
The Israeli military command center has confirmed that it’s a matter of time before Israel carries a new attack on the Gaza Strip. So, it’s a matter of time before Israel carries out an aggression in Gaza. It seems that Israel is already planning for an attack on Gaza. The talk about a missile capable of reaching Tel Aviv also comes under the same context.
Reporter, Female #1
All the options are available: Israel is planning to carry out a new escalation in Gaza, or perhaps against Hezbollah or even against Iran. To complicate matters further, the US is not mounting serious pressure on Israel, diming any possibility for a peace settlement in the region. Sheruk Asa’ad, Dubai TV, Occupied Jerusalem.
US, Israel continue "war games"
IBA, IsraelIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held talks with US envoy George Mitchell and praised the compromise offer drawn up by Western powers. Netanyahu expressed his appreciation for President Obama's ongoing efforts to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities. Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas reiterated his precondition of a complete settlement freeze prior to re- launching the peace process.
UN assembly votes for probes of Gaza war charges
Al Arabiya TV, UAEPresenter, Man # 1
The UN General Assembly resumes the debate on Goldstone report which accuses Israel and the “Palestinians” of committing war crimes during the Israeli attack on Gaza. Dozens of countries expressed their support to a draft resolution demanding Israel and the Palestinians to investigate these accusations.
Reporter, Man # 2
The voting on the Goldstone report was delayed at the general assembly, due to the large number of representatives who wants to take part in the debate. It is almost certain that the resolution has the necessary number of votes to pass. The non-binding resolution demands that both Israel and the Palestinians investigate the accusations stated in the Goldstone report pertaining to war crimes committed during the war in Gaza. It also demands that the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon submit the report to the UN Security Council and perhaps the International Criminal Court at The Hague at a later time
Guest, Man # 3
Once again we reiterate our respect to international law, and human rights. We reiterate that we are committed to conduct independent local investigations to resolve this important matter.
Reporter, Man # 2
Meanwhile Israel reiterated its opposition to the Goldstone report saying that it undermines the peace process.
Guest, Woman # 1
We believe in the vision established by the UN of a two-state solution, but the Goldstone report and this debate will not promote peace. It will undermine efforts exerted to resume the peace process in our region.
Reporter, Man # 2
If the debate ends and the resolution is adopted as expected, then Israel and Hamas should conduct an investigation in the next three months. The investigations must be independent and credible about the serious violations to international laws and human rights as was indicated in the report of Judge Richard Goldstone. Goldstone also recommended that his report be submitted to the International criminal court at the Hague, if the two sides fail to conduct necessary investigations of what happened during the attack on Gaza. Hamas claims member tortured to death in Egypt jail
Al Aqsa, GazaPresenter, Man # 1
The family of the Martyr Yosef Abu Zuhri said that the decision of the Egyptian District Attorney to keep the investigation file of its martyred son, Yosef is yet another crime that can be added to the crime of torturing him to death. In a press conference, the martyr’s brother Sami Abu Zuhri said that the family will pursue legal venues by taking the case to Arab and International courts until the truth is revealed.
Guest, Man # 3
We, the family were traumatized twice. First, when we learned that Palestinian national Yosef Abu Zuhri, was killed in one of the Egyptian prisons. Then we were traumatized again by the decision of the Egyptian District Attorney not to release the investigation file. We believe that this is a crime just like the crime of the murdering of Yosef Abu Zuhri. His body shows signs of the torture he was subjected to during the Egyptian investigations. The position of the Egyptian District Attorney will only make us as a family more committed to peruse legal venues. They told us that the case is closed, but we tell them that the case will remain open, and it will be presented not only to Egyptian courts, but also to all Arab and international human rights organizations. We hoped that the Egyptian legal system would allow us to resolve this case, but considering the neglect and deliberate attempt to cover the identity of the murderers who killed Yusef, we are forced to use all available venues.

Our correspondent In Kabul, Abdel Rahman Matar sheds light on the UN decision and its implications in the following report.
Reporter, Man # 2
UN employees have lived in a state of fear after a guesthouse in the heart of the Afghan capital, Kabul, was attacked last week. According to the investigation, the attack was carried out by professionals, which explains why 20 UN employees were killed and injured. UN officials were compelled to temporarily evacuate two thirds of their foreign employees in Afghanistan until sufficient security measures are in place to ensure their safety.
Guest, Man # 3
I talked about the evacuation of some employees with the president and a number of ministers who are concerned with our missions. I think that everyone realizes that a great deal of work needs to be done. I also think that our ability to carry out our missions will improve especially after a new government is established.
Reporter, Man # 2
The UN, which provides a legal pretext for the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan vowed not to stop its activities aimed at helping the Afghan people. The UN however stressed the importance of providing security to its employees and the 1000 foreigners who live in 90 different guest houses in Kabul. They need to take additional security measures which will cost 75 million dollars. Afghanistan and particularly its government depend on international support provided by donor countries and the UN. The latter has been using that need as a political justification for all that has been taking place in Afghanistan for the last 8 years. Abdel Rahman Matar Al Jazeera, Kabul.
Iran's Al Alam TV says dropped by Arab satellites
Al-Alam, IranPresenter, Female #1
Iran's Arabic satellite channel, al-Alam, is the latest victim in the war on the freedom expression and the press. The Arabsat and Nielsat networks have taken al-Alam off the air without warning, in a decision described as “politically motivated.” It’s an attempt to silence the voices of freedom and truth, which started to echo in the main streets of Arab capitals. Al-Alam has dedicated its services to preserve the plight of the Islamic nation, and defend the right of resistance against all forms of aggression and oppression. It’s a battle between free speech and censorship. Al-Alam is being accused of “crossing the red line,” but which red line: The one which was drawn by the Arab Ministers of Information under the directive of higher authorities? They don’t want anyone to criticize, oppose or even express a different opinion than theirs. All they want is to bring the Arab media back to the old days of reporting, nothing but news about their leaders: Some of the familiar phrases were “He praised, he welcomed, he bid farewell, and he smiled.” Al-Alam is paying the price for its coverage of the war in Gaza, Jerusalem, and Palestine. It’s paying the price of defending freedom, supporting the resistance, promoting Islamic unity, countering arrogant nations, and helping the vulnerable. Al-Alam will continue its mission despite the latest order of closure and censorship. After all, is it possible to cover the sun with one finger?

The operators of Arabsat and Nilesat said on Tuesday that they have taken al-Alam satellite channel off the air without explanation. The Al-Alam administration has contacted the operators of the two satellite networks, and demanded one. Back in June 2008, the Egyptian government called for the closure of al-Alam offices in Cairo. On the second day, the Egyptian police and security forces raided al-Alam offices and seized cameras and computers owned by the channel. Dr. Samir Sabri, an Attorney at Law, has filed an injunction against al-Alam satellite channel at the Administrative Court of Egyptian State Council. Sabri called on the Egyptian-based Nilesat network to take al-Alam channel off the air and suspend its subscription privileges. Al-Alam is still using 4 other broadcast satellites, namely: Hot Bird 8, which is serving Europe and part of Asia. AsiaSat 5, which is serving Asia and the Asian Pacific region.Galaxy 19, which is serving North and Central America. Telstar 12, which is serving the entire American Continent. Al-Alam has joined other sister stations that have been targeted by Arab media networks. In February 2008, the Arab Ministers of Information signed the “Arab Satellite Charter,” which they said aims to regulate satellite television broadcasting. However, it has become clear that the charter was politically motivated, and it was aimed to suppress free speech and silence critical media voices, especially those opposing state-run broadcasters. The objective of the Saudi authorities to take al-Alam channel off the air is clear. What about the Egyptian objective?
Iraqis demand international tribunals to punish terrorists
Baghdad TV, IraqPresenter, Man # 1
Iraqi citizens held political parties responsible for security breaches accusing them of being preoccupied with bipartisan politics and failure to question security officials following the Bloody Wednesday explosions which targeted the Foreign and Finance Ministries. This has raised questions about the lax attitude towards security which may explain the increase of explosions. Iraqi citizens stressed that their priorities at this point is the protection of Iraqi lives.
Reporter, Man # 2
Questions were raised pertaining to government statements that tend to be released after every bloody explosion. It seems that such statements are aimed at covering up the identities of the perpetrators behind these brutal attacks, which always victimize Iraqi citizens. Government investigations show that government officials were involved, which was the case in Wednesday’s bloody explosions on August 19.2009. This contradicts government statements accusing neighboring countries of being involved in the attacks by showing interviews of wanted individuals talking about their connections to these foreign countries. The question is: will making multiple accusations lead to arresting the perpetrators? Or will it impede the government’s ability to do so? Iraqi citizens have been suffering from explosion attacks for the past seven years but the perpetrators are still unknown. Perhaps the Iraqi government is trying to escape the wide spread criticism of failing to bring the perpetrators to Justice by showing televised confessions and making multiple accusations. Al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the attacks at this controversial timing, a claim that was supported by the security and defense committee at the Iraqi Parliament. Then the Iraqi Defense Minister accused intelligence agencies and neighboring countries of being responsible for the explosions. The Prime Minister had previously accused the Baath party. These contradictory accusations have continued as the Iraqi government then decided to blame Syria. Citizens’ confidence in the government is diminishing. Explosions continue to take place because the perpetrators have yet to be brought to Justice. Previous explosions are forgotten and replaced with the memory of new ones. If the government is actually unable to discover the perpetrators then it must tell this to the Iraqi people. The Sunday explosions compelled Iraqi citizens to confront security officials who have failed. They demanded that these officials be replaced with more qualified leaders who have more experience. The government has made multiple accusations but it has not said a thing about the Iranian intervention in Iraq. Most importantly, the government is now in an awkward position due to these contradictory accusations. Citizens are asking where is the truth and when will all the perpetrators who have being killing Iraqi citizens be brought to Justice?
Iraqis want accountability for latest bombings
Al-Iraqiya TV, IraqPresenter, Female #1
A popular demonstration was held, close to the Ministries of Justice and Labor and the City Hall to demand the formation of an International Court to try criminals involved in the killing of dozens of innocent citizens in the latest Baghdad bombings.
Correspondent, Male #1
The most prominent slogan for Sunday’s protest was for the prosecution of the terrorists who hit the region of Salihiya. The protesters came out to demand punishment for the perpetrators, retribution from the criminals, and the formation of an International tribunal.
Guest, Male # 2
I support any procedure that punishes these criminal terrorists, whether through an international court or otherwise. Terror will take its last breath. It wants to target innocent citizens but we tell the terrorists be careful of the Iraqi national will.
Guest, Female # 2
The Interpol and an international court… or even the Iraqi court, with the help of the Interpol, we will be able to prosecute these crimes.

Some voices were raised to demand the parliament to rush the adoption of the election law. They asked for a unified position to be taken by the different political parties and for it to be inline with that of the children of Iraq in order to build a new Iraq and prosecute those responsible for terrorism.
Guest, Female # 3
I hope that the election is critical and happens on time. God willing, the election will take place on time. I don’t want it to be postponed.
Guest, Male # 3
We demand more determination from the government, and we ask all the political parties to leave their disagreements behind so that the innocent Iraqi citizen doesn’t become their victim. The souls of the innocent are entrusted in the hands of all honorable Iraqis.
Correspondent, Male # 1
The event that took place on Sunday was a testimony to those who tried to stop the rush of progress of that day. But the will of the children of Iraq is bigger than any terrorist attempt. Therefore, the Iraqi flag was raised on the buildings of the Ministries of Justice and Labor while construction work proceeded to rebuild what was destroyed by terrorism. From Baghdad, Zayd el Taqi, el-Iraqiya.
