Al Jazeera, QatarPresenter, Male #1
The city of Jerusalem and Hebron's town of Beit Amr witnessed confrontations between Israeli occupation forces and Palestinian youths this afternoon. In Jerusalem, confrontations broke out between occupation forces and dozens of Palestinian worshippers at Bab al-Amoud. The soldiers arrested a number of youths and beat dozens of Palestinian women. The West Bank witnessed rallies that took off after Friday prayers denouncing the ongoing Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip. It also called for ending the division, and reviving efforts for national unity.

This is how occupation forces anticipated the first Friday prayers in the city of Jerusalem after the military operations against Gaza. The city that is isolated from the rest of the Palestinian cities, had its streets shut down, and was transformed into a military base. The city's men under the age of 40 were not allowed to pray at the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Another confrontation was witnessed in the town of Beit Ummar in Hebron. Smoke and sound bombs were used by the occupation forces to suppress the angry Palestinian youths. The confrontations took place after marches took off from across the West Bank. In the city of Ramallah, two marches were held. One was called for by Hamas, and the other by the leadership of the National Committees. In a rare scene since the division, Hamas flags were raised, and chants echoed in support of the movement.
Guest, Male #3 (Ahmed Atoun, Member of the Legislative Council for Hamas)
We must avenge the bloodshed in Gaza as a united force. This is the message we send to the West Bank. We ask for an immediate end to the division, and an end to the security coordination with Israel. We must be united, not fragmented.
Reporter, Female #1
The call for ending the division still lacks the genuine political will to respond to it. The demand for national unity remains constricted to slogans repeated by the Palestinian street. Similar marches were held in the cities of Nablus, Jenin, and Hebron, calling for an active Arab role to respond to the Israeli escalation.
Guest, Female #2 (Khalida Jarar, Member of the Legislative Council for Hamas)
The Palestinian and Arab request is for temporary international protection for the people under occupation, in cooperation with the Arabs, from whom more is required.
Reporter, Female #1
For some, the military escalation represents a test for the international community's ability to halt the military operation against the Gaza Strip. However, for many, it is a real test for the Palestinians and their ability to end the division, which they have failed to do time and time again. Shirin Abu Aqla, Al Jazeera, occupied Ramallah.

This is a message to the occupation. You will not be allowed to pressure Gaza. It's also a message to the Palestinian people that we are your brothers, and we are with you. It's a message to the West and to America. They must move to prevent more shedding of the pure Palestinian blood.

Egypt, revolutionary Egypt, will not hesitate to intensify its efforts, or make sacrifices to stop this aggression and to achieve a lasting and enduring truce until a permanent, just, and comprehensive peace is achieved, and until the establishment of the Palestinian state.

In a breach of the pledges made by the Israeli occupation to stop attacks and air raids during the visit of the Egyptian delegation, Israeli planes carried out a raid north of the city of Gaza. It took the life of two Palestinians, and injured others. In this context, the Israeli military operation continued its heavy strikes on Palestinian cities and towns. It started with the town of Beit Hanoun in the north, and reached Rafah in the south. It hit a number of Palestinian civilians; some were martyred and others were wounded, including children.

Of course, this targeting aims to destroy the infrastructure of the Ministry of Interior because of the unique case that it maintained, and that is its ability to protect the internal front, and to protect the Palestinian resistance. This is the role of the Interior Ministry. This is why it was targeted this morning.

For their part, the military wings of the Palestinian resistance continued to shell Israeli sites and towns in response to the ongoing Israeli escalation on the Strip. In the wake of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, talks of calm remain dependent on the upcoming developments on the ground, and whether political actions, both regionally and internationally, could be successful. Jordan caught between demands for king's ouster and pleas for reform

Thousands of Jordanians called for the downfall of the regime. The United States views their mobilization as a thirst for change.
Reporter, Female #1
On the third day of protests in the kingdom, thousands of protestors took to the street to condemn the fuel price hikes, repeating unprecedented chants calling for the ouster of King Abdullah II. In the capital Amman, peaceful protests were held after Friday prayers near al-Hassan Mosque. Protestors held signs that read, "Price manipulation is playing with fire," and "Freedom is from God, down, down with Abdullah," and "No reforms or amendments, we're telling you in plain Arabic: Leave!"
Reporter, Female #1
Protestors tried to reach the presidential palace, but police forces prevented them and used tear gas to disperse the protestors. Coinciding with protests in the capital, periodic protests took place in several governorates in the south, such as Tafilah, Ma'an, al-Karak, in addition to Irbid, and Jarash in the north. The demand to topple to regime is considered unprecedented in the Jordanian kingdom since previous protests demanded King Abdullah II to expedite the democratic reforms he had promised. For long, damaging the image of the king or publically demanding his ouster was rare, because it is illegal and may lead to imprisonment on charges of "insulting the monarchy".

On Thursday, the Muslim Brotherhood had called on the king to cancel the decision to raise the prices and to postpone the upcoming parliamentary elections that are scheduled for January 22. The elections are being boycotted by the opposition, especially the Islamist movement.

On the other hand, the US State Department viewed the protests witnessed in Jordan over the past few days condemning the fuel price hikes, which were followed by sporadic acts of violence, as expressing a thirst for change as seen in other Arab countries during the Arab Spring. State department deputy spokesman Mark Toner said the Jordanian people have economic and political fears and aspirations. Saudi Arabia called on its citizens to avoid areas witnessing demonstrations and protests, especially al-Dakhliya Square in the center of the capital.

We will have to establish forces from Mali; Europe is experienced in that domain. We will ask different European states to provide technical and financial support to this formation.
Reporter, Male #2
The European ministers agreed to a mission to send 100 military personnel with soldiers to protect them. They will take over the task of training the African forces while carrying out air raids. The Europeans are determined to get rid of the armed movements that are in control of northern Mali. They view them as a bigger threat to Europe than Africa.
Guest, Male #4 (Giulio Terzi, Italian Foreign Minister)

The problem is a big one. The problem is the result of the repercussions of the war on Libya. Everyone must be wise, because the problem isn't always solved with weapons and a military solution. It is more about having a plan that deals with the period after the military solution.

The start of the process for military intervention in northern Mali has taken off, and no diplomatic efforts will stop it, not even the announcement of some extremist groups occupying the north that they will renounce violence. The Europeans today, along with the Africans, have started to sense the danger of al-Qaeda at their front door. Mohammed Wamousi, Dubai TV, Paris.
