Guest, Female #3
What is the sin of these little children? They are children, shame on them. What are the leaders of other countries doing? Shouldn't they be standing with us? Our little children can't sleep; our little children are terrified of death! Shame on them!

Guest, Male #2 (Dr. Hasan Khalaf, Undersecretary of the Department of Health in the Removed Government)
In this barbaric aggression, Israel has so far killed 24 children, and 10 women, and 12 elderly people. It also injured 400 women and children. This a direct targeting and direct killing of children who were not carrying or firing rockets. They were in their houses.
Reporter, Female #2
Whether Israel is targeting civilians, particularly children, as part of its escalation, or as means to pressure Hamas to accept a truce without preconditions, remains the most important issue for Palestinian and international human rights organizations. They view the killings as punishable crimes to which great interest is given, and in order to prevent Israel from targeting civilians again, documentation and legal follow-up are necessary.
Guest, Male #3 (Hamdi Shakoura, Palestinian Center for Human Rights)
The state of Israel and the occupation forces wouldn't have dared to go this far, and take action against children and civilians during this aggression, had the state of Israel been investigated and prosecuted for the crimes it previously committed against children and civilians during its last aggression on Gaza. Theses crimes went unpunished, which is what emboldened Israel to carry out more crimes against children and civilians.
Reporter, Female #2
Palestinians are outraged at Israel's repeated targeting of children. They believe it is ignoring international law as the world condones its actions, while crimes are being committed against the children of Gaza. Hiba Akila, Al Jazeera, from the Intensive Care Unit in al-Shifaa Hospital.

Mouaz al-Khatib, the head of the opposition Syrian National Coalition, said Egypt was chosen to host the coalition's main headquarters after meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr in Cairo. From Qatar, Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti confirmed his country recognized the opposition council in Damascus as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people. However, he said the recognition does not directly imply the country will arm the opposition. The opposition National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change in Syria criticized Paris' recognition of the opposition National Coalition as the legitimate and sole representative of Syrians.

What is being proposed in regard to the legitimacy of representation is a return to the understanding of revolutionary legitimacy that was the essential beginning of most dictatorships.

Kuwait arrests four Twitter users over insulting comments
BBC Arabic, UKPresenter, Female #1
The public prosecution in Kuwait arrested four individuals on charges of insulting the country's emir, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, in comments made on Twitter. Meanwhile, the former speaker of the National Assembly, Jassem al-Kharafi, called on his citizens to head to the ballot boxes on December first to cast their votes in elections boycotted by the opposition.
Reporter, Male #1
Less than two weeks before elections are scheduled in Kuwait, the National High Commission for Elections issued a decision rejecting the candidacy of 39 citizens, including former deputies and new candidates. These developments are unfolding as the country is witnessing a political crisis due to amendments to the election law, which the opposition opposes.
Reporter, Male #1
On another front, and amid the political and security tension Kuwait is witnessing, the public prosecution arrested four people on charges of offending the country's emir, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, in comments made on Twitter. The prosecution investigated with seven opposition supporters, and released three on bail. Two members of the ruling family said they were arrested last week for two days for the same reason.
Guest, Male #2 (Naser al-Abdali, Head of the Kuwait Society for the Advancement of Democracy)
These are not new procedures. If we go look back, we see the issue is not confined to amending the election law. But this same issue and environment has been present for the past five years, and developed into where we are today. There are many violations on Twitter, especially since the Kuwaiti constitution holds specific people responsible, and that includes the head of the government, and the government. So the criticism must be directed at the head of the government and the ministers. But I believe a departure from this constitutional framework is a departure from the only political reference in Kuwait, which is the constitution. This would be an attempt to ignite useless battles.
Reporter, Male #1
It is worth noting that Kuwaiti authorities decided last month to ban any gathering that exceeds 20 people unless a license is granted. The country's emir met with the royal family and tribal leaders to discuss the repercussions of the crisis. The Kuwaiti army had announced joint maneuvers will be held with the Peninsula Shield Forces, in which live ammunition will be used in the north of the country during January and February 2013. However, he said those exercises have no relation to the developing situation in that Gulf country. The political crisis in Kuwait coincides with the 50th anniversary of the ratification of the constitution. At the time, it was a significant development in the region. But many observers believe it is that constitution, despite its weaknesses, that aided the country to overcome its many crises. Fadi Dosari, BBC.

Iraqi troops, Peshmerga forces on verge of confrontation south of Kirkuk
Al Jazeera, QatarPresenter, Male #1
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki renewed his warning to the Kurdish Peshmerga forces not to advance militarily with the aim of either changing their positions, or approaching Iraqi forces in Kirkuk Province, as well as a number of northern areas adjacent to the Kurdistan Region. The region's government had deployed thousands of Peshmerga forces after the Iraqi prime minister decided to hand over security matters in the two provinces to the Iraqi army's Dijla operations leadership.
Reporter, Male #2
These soldiers belong to the Kurdish Peshmerga. The region's government deployed them and their heavy military machinery to Tuz Khurmatu, Nojon, Khanaqin, and Qadir Karam within the two provinces of Kirkuk and Diyala, in anticipation of a military confrontation with the Iraqi federal army. This comes after the conflict between Baghdad and Erbil over the formation of the Dijla operations room, and escalating statements between the two sides intensified.
Guest, Male #3 (Kamal Aly, Commander of the First Peshmerga Brigade)
The political decision was made by the Dawa Party and Mr. al-Maliki, despite giving the leader of the Dijla operations room the freedom to move the Iraqi sectors. It is known that soldiers cannot act without receiving orders.
Reporter, Male #2
According to the decision issued by al-Maliki, who is the commander-in-chief of the Iraqi armed forces, the Dijla operations leadership will be responsible for security in Kirkuk and Diyala. But it was not indicated what role Kurdish military and security forces will play. However, the decision satisfied a majority of Arab politicians in Kirkuk, especially since they have endured Kurdish control for many years.
Guest, Male #4 (Mohamed Gharb, Kirkuk Provincial Council Member)
Peshmerga is affiliated to the Kurdistan Region, and not to Kirkuk, since Kirkuk is an Iraqi governorate that is linked to the federal government, and not to the region. We consider the presence of these forces in Kirkuk as illegal and unconstitutional.
Reporter, Male #2
Another Iraqi group believes the intense battle between the large political coalitions, and Iraq's ethnic and sectarian components, was the main reason for the deterioration of the political process. According to the group, current indicators point to a possible armed conflict.
Guest, Male #5 (Arshad al-Salihi, Head of the Turkmen Front)
We were worried that the current political crisis between the province and the federal government would turn into a military conflict on the ground, and it actually happened.
Reporter, Male #2
The civilians say their conditions and the situation of the country is going from bad to worse. On the map their country is one, but on the ground there are battles, and sectarian and ethnic divisions that are making the country's future unknown. The Dijla operation is an attempt to create a balance of power, and to control the movements of armed groups in two heated security areas, as Baghdad claims. However, the province is considering it an extension of policies the Iraqi prime minister is attempting to impose on his political opponents. Ayoub Youba, Al Jazeera, Kirkuk.
