Algeria has one state-owned network, Enterprise Nationale de Television (ENTV). Algerian law prohibits private ownership of television stations, and the government maintains strict control over all news broadcasts.

ENTV broadcasts news, information, sports and talk shows. Programs are presented partly in French and partly in Arabic.  The station was one of the first to air in the Arab world and has reached a substantial number of viewers.  ENTV recently extended its coverage to the world through its website.

In December 2002, the government signed an agreement with Khalifa TV, a privately-owned Algerian station broadcasting out of Paris, to encourage collaboration between the two stations.ENTV
