Dan Mihail / Ilko Davidov

Bio:
Romanian-born filmmaker Dan Mihail moved to Chicago in 1995. He graduated from Columbia College Chicago Film and Video department and has since worked on a number of short films as a director or editor. He is currently teaching video production classes to inner city youth in both the south side and north side of Chicago, as well as working with BulletProof Film, Inc. In 2010, Dan started the production of a documentary which presents DJing as a musical art form and follows its transformation from vinyl to the more recent digital technologies that have been implemented. Ilko Davidov began his career producing and directing music videos as a teenager in his native Bulgaria .Since then, he has pursued a career in film and video, graduating from Columbia College Chicago in 1995 with a concentration in directing and cinematography. In 1995 he formed his own production company, BulletProof Film, Inc. Mr. Davidov’s credits include work on award-winning documentaries such as: producer and editor of ABOUT FACE, a feature documentary about German and Austrian Jewish refugees who fought in World War II; SACRED SOUNDS, a feature documentary about world sacred music; CHILDREN IN EXILE, the story of children who survived the Gulag, as the Soviet prison camp system came to be known, and UNAUTHORIZED AND PROUD OF IT, which he produced and directed, which tells the story of Rock’N’Roll Comics publisher Todd Loren. Most recently, Mr. Davidov co-produced and edited WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS: A MAN WITHIN, soon to be released in theaters and on PBS. Mr. Davidov is also the co-founder and director of the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival (CIMMfest).
