Bio:
I was born in Durban South Africa. My interest in the Performing Arts began as a teenager. I studied at the Abbey Theatre School of Performing Arts for three years. I have a B.A. in English and African Literature from the University of Witswatersrand Johannesburg. I have a B.A. Honors in English Literature from the University of Cape Town, South Africa where I studied under Nobel Laureate J.M. Coetzee.I began working in Television as an anchor person for an Environmental education magazine show before graduating in 1995. I raised money for my first film, "Rainbow Notions" that examines the paradigm of race relations in the black community in South Africa. I moved to the United States in the late 90s. For several years I raised my two kids. I am currently working on short multiple documentaries., including one about Muslims in America. This year I took time off from completing my MFA in Motion Picture and Television through the Academy of Arts University. I divide my time between taking care of my 8 month old son, a third addition to our family, writing and researching for new films and trying to find a regular job in my field.
