S. Ashraf Meer
Bio:
S. Ashraf Meer is a filmmaker and designer. His first film, "Stages of Integration" premiered at the 1991 Asian American Film Festival and screened at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Neighborhood Film and Video, the Whitney Museum and the National Asian Pacific American Film Festival. He is the recipient of a Mid Atlantic Region Media Arts Fellowship and a Pennsylvania Council on the Humanities Grant.
For the last 15 years, Ashraf has been making short video pieces on his life as an American-born Muslim, of Indian origin: himself. The shorts have premiered at: International House in Philadelphia, the Temple University Student Film Festival (First Place, Graduate Documentary), the New York Video Festival, and WHYY's Through the Lens.
He is an art director, designer and animator whose clients include Imaginary Forces, 21boom, UVPhactory, Liquid Design Group, StarTV, SkyTV, Channel 5, Discovery Kids, The Learning Channel, Spontaneous, Sideshow, Pure, Chanel, Anna Sui, Tommy Hilfiger, Yard and AOL.
He attended Emory University, The Atlanta College of Art, American University, and the Graduate Filmmaking program at Temple University.
Ashraf lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
