Mehri Dadgar

Born in Iran, Mehri first attended art school at Art University in Tehran. Later, she immigrated to America and attended California State University at Northridge, earning both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Studio Art. She then received her MFA Degree in Studio Art from California State University, Long Beach. Mehri has recently solo exhibited her paintings at Cambridge University in England and been selected for inclusion in the MFA Annual 05/06 of New American Paintings, Book #70.
Previous films include a cinema verite documentary on the children of orphanages in Mexico and a slice-of-life short about the workers and patrons of a Southern California car wash. Mehri’s film, “In the Grave”, recently won a Golden “Remi” at the 40th Annual Houston International Film Festival.
In the short documentary featured here, believers in Islam endeavor to explain their feelings of brotherhood towards other religions, their complete rejection of violence perpetrated in the name of religion, and their understanding of their faith as one embracing peace.
