Film Description

Discrimination has existed from the beginning of time. Competition feeds that discrimination. (Competition for food, land, power). We know this as politics. It is the process of manipulating someone (or some group) to seem weaker so that you can seem stronger. The only way to take something away from someone is to make them believe that they are not worth having it. It has been evident in American history through the slaughtering of Native Americans, the enslavement of Africans, the mistreatment of Japanese Americans after Pearl Harbor, and McCarthyism (the Red Scare). Worldwide, it has taken shape with the Holocaust, the Rwanda Genocide, Darfur and the Israeli/Palestine Conflict. In this video, Lily is the moral character that witnesses her classmates and then her sister accept discrimination as a way of life. Thus, they are promoting it. She doesn't understand it, but she doesn't feel she can do anything to stop it either.
