“Amandla! A Revolution in Four Part Harmony” is the only film that
documents the role that music played in struggle against apartheid in
South Africa. The film draws on the memories of familiar artists like
Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba and Abdullah Ibrahim, and shines a light
on the contribution of Vuyisile Mini, one of the earliest known
political activists and singer-songwriters. Through the words and music
of people living and dead, a portrait of a time of pain and triumph
emerges. "Amandla" is full of music that reveals the best side of the
human spirit- the one that forgives and continues to hope.
