This International Dateline episode includes two segments: Inside Indonesia's War on Terror and Imran Khan Interview.

Inside Indonesia's War on Terror
Dateline's David O'Shea provides an alarming twist to the ongoing terror campaign being waged in Indonesia; a searing 40 minute special delving into the soul of Indonesia. Drawing on his 10 years experience living in Jakarta, David explores the relationship between Indonesia's labyrinthine power structures and terrorism, raising many disturbing questions.

Interviewing Umar Abduh, an Islamist who served ten years in jail for terrorism, George Aditjondro, an expert in links between corruption and terrorism, and former president Abdurrahman Wahid, David investigates the extent to which Indonesia's military intelligence and others in positions of authority are actively involved with – and even supporting - terrorist organizations within the country.  Tracing the Machiavellian twists and turns leads to speculations of corruption so insidious that locals are too frightened to speak out, and one conclusion posits that the bombing in Tentena, central Sulawesi, in May 2005 was in fact ordered by intelligence personnel - to protect their racket of siphoning off money intended for aid.  What implications does this have for the current investigations into the most recent Bali bombings?

Imran Khan Interview
Pakistani cricket legend, these days a politician, Imran Khan, has been travelling through the parts of his electorate that experienced the full force of the recent earthquake. Dateline's George Negus tracked him down by phone as he and his aid team drove into the foothills of the North-West Frontier Province, the epicenter of the disaster.

About International Dateline

SBS Dateline, which began in 1984, is Australia's longest-running international current affairs program. It has a well-earned reputation for authoritative and incisive reporting. Dateline has taken the traditional way of producing TV current affairs and turned it on its head. Reporters who used to travel with a cameraperson and sound recordist now travel alone and have the responsibility of both filming and reporting their stories. The reporters became video-journalists, gaining access to people and places that the conventional camera crews cannot.
