This International Dateline episode includes three segments: Rwanda - Questions of Murder, Jesse Jackson on Barack Obama, and Wanted: Surfboards.

Rwanda - Questions of Murder
Has the United Nations gotten away with murder? Award-winning video journalist Ginny Stein tracks down a former UN employee who, instead of protecting people, has been accused of killing, or ordering the killing of, 32 Rwandans during the genocide there.

Stein speaks to one eyewitness who identifies Callixte Mbarushimana as a killer and gathers more evidence, including an interview with the UN investigator who handled the allegations who's furious that Mbarushimana was never charged. And Stein tracks down the former UN worker who's now living as a refugee in France, securing the first on-camera interview with him to answer these allegations.

Mbarushimana denies the claims and the UN's Criminal Tribunal has decided there's not 'sufficient special elements' to proceed against him. However the question remains, has the United Nations deliberately ignored a killer in its midst, choosing to concentrate instead on the 'big fish' of the Rwanda genocide?

Jesse Jackson on Barack Obama
Dateline host George Negus is in Washington to interview political and civil rights leader Jesse Jackson who twice ran for Democratic presidential nomination. He'll know exactly what Senator Obama is in for, whether he can beat Hilary and if he’ll capture the black vote.  Negus will also quiz Jackson on John Howard's comments about Senator Obama and his Iraq exit strategy. Will there be repercussions? And how would a Democratic President get on with our Liberal Prime Minister?

Wanted: Surfboards
On the north coast of Papua, New Guinea, talented young surfers are so desperate for boards that they trek into the jungle to cut wooden ones out of gigantic tree roots. Follow Dateline video journalist Mark Davis as he records this extraordinary labour of love... and finds out why the journey from jungle to surf break isn't so easy.

About International Dateline

SBS Dateline, which began in 1984, is Australia's longest-running international current affairs program. It has a well-earned reputation for authoritative and incisive reporting. Dateline has taken the traditional way of producing TV current affairs and turned it on its head. Reporters who used to travel with a cameraperson and sound recordist now travel alone and have the responsibility of both filming and reporting their stories. The reporters became video-journalists, gaining access to people and places that the conventional camera crews cannot.
