International superstar Sonia Braga is Dona Flor in this funny, ribald folktale from Brazil about a young widow, her respectable new husband, and her handsome, romantic - but dead - first husband, who refuses to stay buried. A cooking teacher, Dona marries Vadinho, the small village's engaging, charismatic lothario. Once married she finds he is completely irresponsible, stealing her pay to gamble. Not long after Vadinho's sudden death of a heart attack, Dona marries Teodoro, an upstanding, staid member of the community who owns the local drugstore. She's generally happy with Teodoro, but misses the erotic moments with Vadinho - until his ghost returns to charm her all over again.
