The average German spends 900 euros a year on clothes; however, they're not made in Germany, but in low-wage economies in Asia or south-east Europe, like Macedonia.

On January 1, 2005, the World Textile Agreement expired. Since then there have been no fixed quotas guaranteeing small countries the minimum exports. This enabled countires, like Macedonia, to survive in the face of competition from giants such as China. For the seamstresses, this will make their employment situation all the more difficult.
